Mike Glaser comments - true?

and a whole lot of sore winners.......you guys won against a better team...why complain..you should be proud....

What's the bigger accomplishment...winning a game that you should have easily won or winning one where you were the underdog and avenging a 48-16 pounding earlier in the year????

I am not a sore winner. I honestly feel that we peaked when we were supposed to, X did not. With that said, we avenged our only KY loss, and I will not concede that X was better in December.

And this is why there are 2 sides to every story, and the First Amendment!

X did not do what they needed to do to win that last game.....That has never been a contention on here from either side of the fence. It is just simply fact.

X was considered by a vast majority to be the better team....not just Glaser and X fans....ranked higher...played a tougher schedule....won the earlier match-up easily..It is simply fact.

Trinity played a great game and won what they deserved...(as I have always said) That is simply fact.

X did have several things go wrong that night...the death in Glaser's family...Curley's foot....etc....These things happen in life and in football......X did not respond to these very well.....in fact they imploded...massing penalties at bad times...(not performing)...These are facts also..

Trinity had things go wrong also...X's first score was an easy ride to the endzone...it was looking like a repeat of the Sept. game.....the difference is that Trinity did not implode..they did what they had to do to win the "Last Game"...That is fact.

Now why is it wrong for a coach to motivate his team by encouraging them to win the last game...which would be the state championship game?

Why is it wrong for a coach to admit that X was outplayed? ...which is what happened.

This motto is not a knock on Trinity at all....if anything it is a knock on X and how they need to improve....how they need to respond to setbacks.. This motto simply says that we did not get it done when we needed to....and we need to change that...It was our only foul-up in a great season.

Now for Trinity fans to consistently state that Trinity was the favorite at the end of the season and this was not a big win is wrong. You are diminishing a great performance by Trinity players and coaches. To beat the #1 undefeated team that beat you by 30 points just 3 months prior is awesome. It is a win that the boys on that team will cherish forever...and they should...it was major! It was a great win and Trinity played one hell of a game...Be proud and quit diminishing the job that these fine young men accomplished....

I didn't see the game, but everything else here seems right on target.

After Trinity lost to Male in the 2000 final the motto of the team was "unfinished business" the following season. I still see a few of the tee-shirts around, in fact there is one in a closet in my home. There is nothing wrong with this kind of slogan for motivation. However, I think Coach Glaser could have skipped the "we were the better team" comments. I think the LIT rankings just prior to the game had X as a favorite but not by a bunch. One needs to consider that maybe the real upset was the margin of victory in the first game. The second game was much more true to form in this rivalry.

Why is it wrong for a coach to admit that X was outplayed? ...which is what happened.

If that was what he was saying I would agree but that's not what I hear him saying. He said X was better then Trinity last year and when it counted they most certainly weren't. I'll concede that in September X was the better team. I am also not willing to concede that in December X was better then Trinity. If Glasier wants to get on TV and say his team got out hustled, out hit and out coached in December last year I'll agree with that.

Great post brother.....everyone knew that the first game was more of an anomoly than anything else.

Another wonderful post.

OMG people this is 2006!

That game was over six months ago and we (X fans) are still whinning and crying about official's, broken feet, and costly penalties. Instead of trying to justify our bitter loss why don't we look to the future?

So Coach G thought his team was the best in the state last year? So what. Matt Leinhert said his USC team was still the best in the country after they lost to Texas. What's wrong with someone - player, coach - sticking up for their school?

I really wish we would suck up and swallow this loss to the Rockheads and move on.

As the great late great Woody Hayes used to say "PAY FORWARD"

Woody Hayes? I thought Kevin Spacey said that.

Where do you think Kevin got it?

I hear you. Most of the post have been from the weed camp, they just wont let it die.... I agree with you, so what if coach Glaser feels he had the best team. If Coach Servino felt he had the best game after the 97 state game, so what, I wouldnt loose any sleep over it.... EVERYONE is intilted to their own opinion...... I respect that, but I dont have to agree with everyone...!

Woody Hayes? I thought Kevin Spacey said that.

Spacey's student came up with the idea, not Kevin.

So Haley Joe is a Buckeye fan?

Xman85,

I`m sorry but where did you read or hear that TRINITY Fans said that the ROCKS were the favorite going into the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Game!!.

The main person who has diminished what the TRINITY TEAM accomplished last year has been your Coach! He took it to a higher level by saying on local T.V. two weeks in a row that "ST.X was the better team". He needs to take higher ground when he has local media airing or writing what he says. With media attention everyone needs to guard their words and be responsible. What he said is meant for locker room hype !!

Coach Beatty has said:" last year was last year" this comes from a Coach whoes team and his boys stepped up and won the CHAMPIONSHIP,THE RING!

As they say " Walk the walk don`t talk the talk". With someone new to this area ( by 6 years ) it appears to me that is not what Coach G. does!! All talk no show!!! just my humble point of view.
