The numbers they're giving are a bit depressing. I recall a couple of days ago you about laughing at those numbers? JK From what I can see the numbers are all over the place.
January 21, 201610 yr Author Thursday morning update: Everyone should be all ready preparing for a major winter storm to hit Kentucky. First my main concern is the possible icing across a section of southern Kentucky on Friday morning centered on the Cumberland Pkwy. A swath of .01-.25" of ice accumulations is possible. This could cause some power outages in that area. The cities in this are include Madisonville, Central City, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Campbellsville, Columbia, Somerset, London, Corbin, Manchester. This area look to has 2-4" on the ground by Friday afternoon. Don't worry NKY your snow is on the way. :thumb: I'm still thinking 3-5 by Saturday evening. There looks to be a path threw central and eastern Kentucky that look to get 12-16" cities included in this area include. Frankfort, Lexington, Danville, Nicholsaville, Richmond, Berea, Winchester, Mt. Sterling, Paris, Maysville, Ashland, Jackson, Pikeville, Paintsville, Prestonsburg. Some in EKY could get upwards to around 18". Louisville, Radcliff, Elizabethtown 6-8" WKY is looking at 4-6" This includes Owensboro, Hopkinsville, Henderson, Madisonville. I will update later today after I get home from work. Please take note of the fact that this is a changing ongoing situation and these totals quite possibly will change as we get closer to the event.

January 21, 201610 yr Author The nWo family has already prepared for any emergency. Our children in Bowling Green have stocked up on food and other essentials. My son got wood for the fireplace in case of a power outage. Mrs nWo and I started preparing last week and are set. Food and other essentials. Kerosene in case of a power outage. I took off work on Friday to be here at home.

Unfortunetly, your numbers are right in line with what I had just seen. This is gonna be a mess. One thing that concerns me is that this appears to be a heavy wet snow with 10-20mph sustained winds, which will likely lead to some major power outages in my area.

January 21, 201610 yr Author If anyone remembers reading my early outlooks for this storm I mentioned that if a secondary low pressure system forms off the east coast that would cause this storm to be monstrous. Well that seems to be exactly what will happen.

January 21, 201610 yr Thanks nWo. It doesn't appear NKY will get the brunt of this storm, but I'm ready either way.
January 21, 201610 yr I'm in Morehead so things will be interesting as I have to be work regardless tomorrow as I'm a pharmacist. Getting there might be OK but getting home might be the issue. Thankfully I'm not that far away rom my job so I'm in a better position than most.
January 21, 201610 yr @nWo how do you access the models? You do a great job and I too am a weather enthuseist and woul enjoy looking at models for pending snow storms in the winter. Im always accessing my radar apps in the spring/summer during peak tornado season. Any links or apps i can use that you can suggest would be great. Thanks friend and keep up th awesome work. :thumb:
