Population Numbers And Class Splits

GT I really don't think you understand what we are saying. The point is we are not and will not ever be as big. That is why we find it silly to equal their number of classes.

And you can only look at it as comparing to OH and larger states. As a smaller state with 3 metro areas, and the rest almost all rural, there has to be a different plan. To get hung up on states with a population 100% larger at worst is missing the point. I get what you are saying, and it's silly...

I've stated over and over I would be all for every team making the playoffs in a 4 class system.

Start a thread and propose this system please...

What a ridiculous question.

Teams can only play the opponents that are put in front of them. But we, as fans, have every right to argue that six classes waters down the competition. And the evidence is there to support that premise.

Its not about YOU or me or us as fans its about the kids and as ridiculous as you think my qusetion is you still didnt have the guts to answer it. Theyre are things that I disagree with in this proposal and I have a right just like you do and I respect yours and everyone elses right to disagree with it as well. When the smallest state in the union(wyoming) has 5 classes and Mississippi, which is smaller population wise than KY has 8 classes and with the disparity in numbers from the smallest school to the largest school in each class that we have something needs to change. Did the KHSAA go a little overboard?: time will tell, but Im going to keep an open mind and give it a chance instead of automatically reject it before I ever see the first season of it.

In Ky, with 4 classes?

When was the last time a team with no wins made the playoffs? I'm not sure, but I'm betting that we'll have one in the first year of 6 classes.

Last year Cawood over here in east KY were 1-9 and got a 4 seed thats not not much better than 0-10 so if that exact instance hasnt happened its not been far off. Ive said all along that if we went to 6 classes they should go back to only 2 playoff reps from each district. I dont like the current 4 team format cause theyre are too many blowouts and not enough upsets in the first round when #1 plays #4 to justify it.

It seems like Greenup Co did it in the 90's maybe?

Fans are entitled to their say, too, just as coaches and administrators are. Kids didn't make the decision to go to six classes ... coaches and administrators did.

As for your question, it was so ridiculous that it didn't deserve an answer.

Mississippi, which is smaller population wise than KY has 8 classes
Mississippi's state association has just five classes.

You may be counting the private schools league, which is totally separate. I think they have three classes.

I don't want to see a season of it, because I know what it will look like. It's still high school football, but the bottom line is that it's watered-down competition.

Mississippi crowns 9 state championships. Five from the public schools and 4 in the private schools. I think you have to consider all titles when making this comparrison. I'd be like if Kentucky had stayed at 4 classes but voted the private schools out. We would then have 8 titles potentially.

Or is it if you answered it it would destroy youre entire arguement and YOU know it?

Well its going to happen whether any one of us want it to or not, If you dont want to see it then quit going to games Im sure youll be sorely missed.

No we wouldn't. There wouldn't be enough private schools for more than 1 championship, if even that.

Hardly.
It doesn't state that any of the divisions were less than 11 man football. In states that have 8-man championships they were labeled as such on the site.

Just because it doesn't label it as 8-man or 6-man, doesn't mean that it isn't. In some cases, 1A or Class D can mean 8-man, they just don't label their title as such. Even with that, I think there are only about ten states that hold 8-man championships.

Wow. That took some work. Thanks Strike-3. It seems to me the problem comes from population shift from rural to urban, creating a "haves and have-nots" situation. Does anyone know if any of the five classes in Wyoming are 8-man titles?[/QUOTE]

State Football Championships

This is for the good people at Trinity. If you click on the list of state champions from across the country (click on the link above), you'll notice that apparently St. Xavier was the Class AAAA champion last season in Kentucky. Seems like a good laugh, although I'm sure there will be countless debates after reading this about who was the better team!

OK then why dont you just answer it then.
Come up with a legitimate question, and I'll answer it.
