December 5, 20169 yr Talking about this the other day. Is Ybor city area still a happening place? You may have to define what you mean by "happening". We were there on Sunday afternoon and it was busy. The chickens parading around still crack me up. It's a great place to people watch. You never know what you might see. As dusk came on, Spanish music started wafting out of the bars and restaurants. It was starting to get crowded. We left Gaspar's Grotto about that time and the patio was packed. Friday and Saturday nights are jammin', but that is more for the younger crowd. I try avoid that, if I can.

December 7, 20169 yr Did Long John Silvers for the first time in a while. I ordered chicken. I'm assuming that's what I got. The fries were good though. I've officially fired them.
December 7, 20169 yr Absolutely destroyed a bowl of the Gorgonzola Linguine from the Come Back Inn in Louisville this past Saturday. I swear that there isn't a better restaurant in Louisville on that price range. Pasta bowls are great and cost about ten bucks. Both the Gorgonzola and the Bolognese my girlfriend had were amazing.

December 10, 20169 yr Columbia Restaurant in Ybor last night. Unbelievably great Cuban cuisine and a Spanish flamenco show! I had the La Completa Cubana which consisted of Roast Pork a la Cubana, Boliche Criollo, Empanada de Picadillo, platanos, yuca, black beans and yellow rice. Just incredible!
December 11, 20169 yr Proper grouper analysis is key to a successful trip. If you like grouper and have not tried redfish, I recommend giving it a shot if you get an opportunity. Affordable fresh grouper and redfish are among the things I miss most about Mississippi. I had never heard of redfish and confused it with red snapper before I spent a year there. Another Gulf delicacy that I discovered in Mississippi were "royal reds," a species of shrimp that has a taste that is sometimes described as a cross between shrimp and lobster.
December 11, 20169 yr Thursday night, we went to Hablo Taco on Channel Side Drive in Tampa before the Lightning game. Had the Grilled Avocado. They split an avocado, char-grill it, then fill the halves with season ground beef, habanero salsa, and queso fresco. They put ranchero sauce on it and serve it with Mexican rice. Holy cow!!!! It was amazing.
December 11, 20169 yr Took the not-so Little Dawgs to Chuy's tonight before hitting the Festival of Lights. The Creamy Jalapeño Dip is legit!!
