January 12, 201610 yr One thing is certain. If it wasn't already, Bengals-Steelers is now the marquee rivalry in the NFL. Not Packers-Bears. Not Steelers-Ravens. Not Niners-Seahawks. If they decided he was a runner and not defenseless allowing the hit to be legal how in the world did they miss the clear as day fumble? Did any ref actually see the hit or the play before the replay?
January 12, 201610 yr I watched bits and pieces of the replay last night on the NFL Network while switching back and forth with the college championship game. I know there has been some conversation on how stupid the call was for the Bengals 2 point conversion attempt at 16-15 and how the play never had a chance. Did anyone else notice that the pitch to Hill was backwards? If he fumbles, under the new conversion rules this year, the Steelers could have recovered and taken it back for two points. They could have won right there...really, really dangerous call by the Bengals on that 2 point conversion.

Once Nelson went down, you lost your only secondary player who could blitz. Rey doesn't time his blitz well, and Tez is about the only LB left who could cover. On top of that, they were down to their #6 CB. I don't blame them for not blitzing.

I also thought the call on the personal foul on the pass over the middle to Wheaton was junk, as did the Bengal fans around me. Was Allen the one who grabbed AJ Green's arm as he was jumping up into the air? That was one of the actual calls that the Back Judge and Side Judge got right.

Because the refs have been terrible all year: Here's their call...(after replay)...Clean hit, fumble and Steeler down by contact (or whistle blew). Here's what could've been called: Clean hit, fumble and TD return Here's what actually should've been called: illegal hit by leading with the crown of the helmet... 15 yd penalty (or half distance to goal) depending on the field position... Bengals ball.
