Markel McClendon was the best player on the floor, finishing with 25 pts to lead Holmes.

Holy Cross probably had the next best 5 players though, as seen in the final score.

First time in 15 years HC simply has more talent top to bottom than the Bulldogs.

Schrand led HC with 21 pts. Bezold had 18. And I think Jakubowski had 10. Nice game by Barnes inside at both ends.

First time seeing HC and they are very solid at both ends. Ryan Schrand is doing a great job. Holy Cross runs very good sets offensively and really use their mismatches to their advantage.

Defensively they hounded McClendon and basically forced the rest of the team to beat them.

Holmes played tough, but hc is very good in their house. Jv team picks up another win as well. Nice crowd, not full house like I thought it would be. Tomorrow @Highlands, Tuesday Cov Cath at home, Finn center will be packed for sure.

Holmes early on clearly tried to take the perimeter shot away from Erich Jakubowski. That opened up the middle of the floor and paint for Leighton Schrand to get to the rim on several occassions. Holmes had trouble keeping Schrand, Zimmerman and Bezold from getting to the rim all night long. HC led by as many as 20 I believe before benches totally cleared last couple minutes. The Indians will get another Listerman tomorrow (Kevin) in Ft. Thomas against the Bluebirds in a triple header.

L. Schrand 21

Bezold 18

Jakubowski 10

Barnes 9

McClendon 25

Nice win for the Indians and can't say I'm surprised. Schrand has built a nice program in Latonia.

Holmes appears to lack the overall talent that they have always had in the past.

The loser leave town match in Districts will be closer IMO.

The house wasn't full? What us the capacity, 750?

The ncc game was right at capacity (750)maybe a few spots left. The Holmes game still had a lot of seating on visitor side. I would say Cov Cath will be full to capacity.

Wow. For the last 5+ years or so, the 35th has been dominated the majority of the time by CCH and Holmes.

Congrats to HC for proving that they belong. It will only make for more exciting basketball come tourney time.

When was the last time Holy Cross made the regional tournament?

03/04 season, I believe...Holmes' big man Lexi Brown broke his leg in the first round of districts at Covcath and the Indians upset the Bulldogs by 3.

Holmes had beaten HC by 13 during the regular season.

Holmes cut the lead to 5 midway through the 3rd qtr last night and then had back to back turnovers that helped HC push the lead back to 10 and it got out of hand from there.

I think HC is the better team but not 10+ points better. It will be a much different game when these two likely meet on a neutral floor. (I assume district aren't at HC)
