Best team effort of the year for Boyle. Balance scoring and improving defense is making this team a tougher and tougher out. First time all year Boyle has allowed 60+ points. Wasn't sure the Rebels could win if they gave up that many but they made a liar out of me tonight.

 

On a side note, Farmer from Clay County has unlimited range. I thought Boyle actually defended him well and he still scores 33. WOW!

This was probably one of the best games that Boyle has all year. 2nd Chance scoring the 1st half really hurt Boyle. Clay had 16 2nd chance points the 1st half. Clays guards are really good at getting to the offensive boards. They are really the biggest guards that we have played this year. When Boyle made there runs at the beginning of the game and the second they really moved the ball well and hit the open shots, plus the made good passes ran the offense. I think this was the loudest that have heard the Boyle fan on the road in a while. Boyle fans really turned out tonight and was glad to see all of them travel that far.

This is a nice win for Boyle, Especially at Clay!

12th Region is very strong this season. The regional tournament will be more than worth the price of admission.

Mercer is the clear favorite but there are several good teams in the 12th.

I'll have to say, Boyle is better than I thought. I think they will win the district again.

Looking at the stats that were posted, one player (Farmer) took 46% of the shots for Clay County. And looking at his FG percentage, he wasn't exactly lighting it up. They also had only 3 assists as a team. That's not a formula for success.

Boyle did a really good job shutting down Blake Smith. Yes he did have 15 points but 9/9 from the FT line. Elkins gave nothing in the paint and Smith was bothered by shooting over Elkins. Clay played from behind in the second half and quite frankly the Farmer long range jumper was Clay's only offense. When Farmer did drive he was not as bothered by Elkins.

Farmer definitely has the green light. It makes it easier to hit those when you know coming out of the game is not an option. He hit several shots but his percentage isn't what you call lighting it up.

Players taking 50% of a teams shots is a receipe for disaster come tournament time if the shots are not falling. Teams that seem to have the most post season success involve everyone on the floor. The 1000 point club does not equal success as a team. Good coaches know who has the green light on teams making it a lot easier to provide road construction. When everyone on the floor is encouraged to contribute, IMO it pays off later. Confidence is part of any sport.
