To me' date=' it just took longer for Beck and Urban to figure out what they wanted to do. Sometimes you can have too many options and it takes awhile to figure out what will be your "core" for the season. No matter who the OC is under UM the offense is essentially the same from year to year, OC to OC, make no mistake it is Urban's offense no matter who has the title of OC. Urban's offense has been something that teams have not been able to handle since his first HC job at BG. No reason to have an OC come in and change things up, if it ain't broke don't fix it!!![/quote']

Both QB's regressing is probably the main concern. You are correct in it takes time for a new guy to adjust but most Buckeye fans aren't happy and want to part ways.

Three step out of the gun is equivalent to a 5 step drop under center.

Not for pass routes. Most of their stuff was digs and shallow crosses.

For pass routes it is exactly that...

Now sometimes an offense will adjust to a 5 step drop for a qb out of the gun if they are very fast at getting their drop or need to stretch the field vertically. Also, it depends if the QB and QB coach like to utilize a punch step when dropping back and then sometimes that is considered a step during drop back but in reality it is actually a half step. But rule of thumb is 1-step for quick game( 3 step under center), 3-step( 5 step under center) for general passing game, and 5-step( 7 step under center) for some longer developing concepts or trying to hit a deep home run.

I never want my QB to get deeper than 8 yards and that is 3 1/2 or so steps out of the gun. One punch step then three regular steps. At that depth the qb should be able to anticipate and throw a comeback at 14-16 yards based on the speed of the WR, or hit them on their break on a dig or out. This would put them on rhythm.

Now, some QB coaches and OC's like to get to 9 yards for their concepts and teach a different 3 step, to get the added depth they have the qb take a really big first step followed by two normal steps. I do not like this approach because to me the first step is not a natural step. The reason that some want to get the extra yard of depth is that they want to be able to hit a comeback/dig/out at 20 yards.

Then there are other QB coach's that like 5 shorter steps compared to the 3 step drops described above. They like the small 5 steps because, as with all semi-sophisticated offenses, they can stop their drop at anytime to hit an open wr, and they feel this keeps their lower body in a more ready to throw position at all times.

One thing that almost all offenses never want to do is get the qb past 9-10 yards on their drop because of the holes it opens in the pass protection.

Sidenote: I am stopping by Son of Siam either this Thursday or Friday to talk to Nathan.

I think this might be an example of having so much talent that it caused them to be stretched thin. With the QB's being so different it caused the offense to run essentially two different sets. Doing this limits efficient practice time, at least it seems like it would, for both qbs and the offense as a whole.

Nice. What discipline/s are you looking at?

Mauy Thai, BJJ, and Judo which is basically all of them. I have never done any of them before, so I want to give them all a shot at first.

You are going to be sore. It lasts about 3 weeks and then your body adapts. If you can do all 3, you will be in the best shape of your life.

Yes. I will do each for a couple weeks or so and then choose.

CJ Procise is going pro.

Prepare to get a boost of adrenaline back in your life. It is awesome

I think if both teams were at full strength, the score would have been pretty much the same as it was today.

No way you or I could know that. They would have to play at full strength to answer that.

That's why I said I think instead of I know.

I don't think it's the fact they lost the Michigan State game as it is for about 10 games they didn't play remotely close to their potential. Had they rolled through the season (sans MSU) like they were capable, I think they would have gotten the nod over OU. Combination of too much pressure and Meyer trying to show us he was smarter than everyone else by playing Cardelle.

You make a good point, maybe that's it.

OSU could play the Patriots, GB, Carolina and a couple of others and people would still whine about their schedule :lol2:. Remember all of the posts claiming the same ol :deadhorse: complaint a couple of years ago ? When VT beat OSU, all the cheers, celebrating ... "they're dead, can't compete, not a top 25 team, etc., etc. .....".

Then then the Bucks went on a run, Beat an Al Mighty SEC champion and an "Unbeatable" offense of the always overrated Oregon. Breezed through bot and removed all doubt on who was no question the best team in the country that season.

Buckeyes beat themselves this season, no doubt about that but I am to the point that I am feeling pretty good about things when all the whining starts. :thumb:

All of the above is no being thin skinned or a rant, just the normal on here and that's fine.

btw .... I love watching the SEC as well as anyone, just realize that other areas / conferences can play some good football as well. Teams can only play the schedule that's in front of them and there is good arguments both ways. That, to me anyway, doesn't mean that just bc one team comes from a stronger conference than another team that the team is better bc of their conference.

This. This. This. I just want to be able to watch a football game involving an SEC team and appreciate it like I do every other good football game. But instead I constantly find myself subconsciusly wanting the SEC team to lose just so we don't have to hear about the SEC. I'm tired of people acting as though the little logo on the jersey is more important than the name printed on the front.
