Questions for those who are in a position to know. HHS has now played 5 games.

A. Is this typical?

2. If not, is it a function of not having a home gym at this point?

D. Will they eventually play a "full schedule"?

Unfortunately this is typical where the program currently stands, but will likely change some over the next few years. Currently a large majority of the team plays football and in most cases are not showing up for "full fledged" basketball practices until the first week of December at the earliest. Kevin felt it was best for the kids to practice for a few weeks before playing any games so that they could get some cohesiveness and get the bodies in better shape for basketball.

The gym issue has nothing to do with anything except having to practice and play off the campus. Believe the gym will be ready when school starts back up next week. Understand floor is done and they now have to wait and let everything dry before getting on it.

Cannot tell you the last time that the basketball program played a "full schedule" Just the nature of the beast right now. Believe the program will swing a little in coming years as there are more kids that have basketball as their first sport which will enable the football kids to work their way in as the season goes along.

Kevin and staff have done a great job getting involved with the kids at all levels and you can see that things are starting to change a bit, just takes patience and time. Current team has numerous kids that played AAU basketball up until entering their sophomore year of high school. Believe that if these same kids were not football players first and Kevin Listerman was the coach, the recent 1,000 point scorer on the hill would be wearing the blue and white rather than the blue and gold.

Thanks for the info.:thumb:

I had assumed that the late start date was connected to football, but didn't see any of the other perennial football powers doing the same thing. Then I saw something about the gym and just wondered.

Looking forward to seeing the updated gymnasium at Highlands. I understand there is a really cool H that hangs in the front atrium area and can be seen from the street through the glass.

Already visible if you drive by. The arches leading to the football stadium have also been put in place. Going to be a pretty nice facility when all is said and done.

The H is impressive looking.

^Wow! That's impressive!

Where in the Atrium will the memorial be erected in honor of Scott Draud and Jared Lorenzen?

Gym looks great...big time improvement since the last time I was there several years ago.

My vote would be for Ken Shields!

Or Jamie Walz....she has her HS Basketball shoes in a case at the Basketball HOF in Springfield MA. Saw em with my own eyes.

Forgot about her. Man, she was a scoring machine.

My guess is if it's not in the Foyer when you walk in it will be included in the "Walk of Fame" leading down to the Football Field. That memorial will celebrate all Former great Athletes that have don'd the Blue & White.
