I would like to know some more about this vote. Did all 18 coaches go to the KFCA and voice their disapproval there too? Where were all these coaches while the process was going on?

 

My point here is it doesn't matter what the NKY Coaches voted or did not vote for in their local meeting, what matters is what the KFCA voted for and unless the NKY coaches were well represented at the KFCA meetings it is irresponsible to cry about it to the local media now.

I don't see it as irresponsible to offer an informed, well-considered opinion.

We can agree to disagree westsider. The time for the Super 18 to offer their informed, well-considered opinions was to the KFCA when the 6 class plan was being worked on, not to the media after the fact in what amounts to a mis-representation to the common fan.

I agree. I don't think it's right to keep convicting the local coaches until we get the scoop. But I suspect that their 18 (NKY) voices wouldn't have pulled much weight down there either way.

If the local coaches voted in their NKY meeting, then it surely should have been to gain a strong unified voice heading into the KFCA meeting. Otherwise why bother to vote? :confused:

 

If they took this 18-0 vote from a local meeting and then didn't do anything with it when it mattered, that's on them. They blew the two-minute drill on this one.

I'm kind of confused about your question about the coaches?:confused: I have heard them voice their opinion on a number of issues over the last year or so related to more classes or public/private split and they have all been consistent. "We like it the way it is." "We don't want a change." This process to get to 6 classes has been on going for 2 and a half years. No one can honestly believe that in that time that the 18 coaches in NKY did not make their voices heard. Heck, Bob is the chairman on the committe that just voted 14-0 in his absence. I can't believe that he would not know or voice an opinion against it PRIOR. Just because now it's a story, and now the papers print it, does not mean they have not said they are against it since day one. It's just that now it's a story, so now the papers print it. You have taken the stance that they are guilty of not doing enough to change things and are whining about the outcome. Yet have not shown me that they didn't speak up in the last two years. I prefer to think they are innocent of not voiceing their concerns. I can not phathom that all 18 of our coaches were asleep at the wheel and then woke up when they hit the tree.

From what I understand, they did not go to the meeting to voice their displeasure; if they would have, all 18 strong, the system would probably not have passed. Eighteen months with numerous meetings is plenty of time. They just assumed nothing would happen.

It should be very easy to ask around and find out exactly how these coaches went about letting their opinions be known on this issue. Reading between the lines I think 'ru already knows the answer...

I think after two and a half years everyone knew what was going to happen. So let me get this straight, because they didn't all vote at one meeting, after 2 and half years of debate, when it was obvious that their vote would not have changed anything, they are the reason that we are going to 6 Classes. I didn't realize how much power they had over the rest of the state. Now I'm upset with them as well.

What does it really matter what 18 coaches think? This plan was not brought about for their happiness. I am not a big fan of it but it will be voted on and it is not final yet, as the alignments are just "prpositional" right now. Calm down and get you lobby going and shake up the slush funds and get things changed. I am sure the 18 coaches from Northern KY are not the only ones unhappy.

 

Look at it this way, they could always leave the KHSAA and either go to OHIO (joke) or start their own (sound familiar).

As we discussed, they aren't crying about it. They were contacted by a reporter and asked what they felt. They answered the question. Stop. Period. Nothing more. End of story. Conclusion. That's not crying.

 

If you want to criticize them for not attending the meeting or being more vocal on the listserve fine. But your criticism of them for responding to the a question presented to them by a reporter and expressing their thoughts is getting a bit over the top my friend.

 

As to whether all 18 of them attending the KFCA meeting could have influenced the outcome is impossible to know by you, me or even Wildcat (inspite of his statement to the contrary) but I don't think it would have influenced the outcome one iota, unless of course the measure passed by less than 18 votes. Anyone know the actual vote at the KFCA? The arguments for and against the proposal were well known, so I sincerely doubt any of the 18 were going to come up with some brilliant reason, unthought of before by the coaches, as to why it should not occur. Thus, they were going to simply regurgitate at the meeting the same reasons why they were against it that I'm sure the coaches had heard ad nauseum over the last year. Again, they were not going to change anyone's minds. So again, unless it passed by less than 18 votes, their attendance mattered as much to the outcome as 18 drops of rain means to the level of the ocean. Their attendance would have been irrelevant, other than to have given them the right in the Ru's mind to answer a question presented to them by reporters. Ru, I'm normally in agreement with you but I frankly don't agree or understand what is seeming like some obsession that you have on this issue. Hugs and kisses, LN:banana: .
