To be expected.

Heard Braden Posey the sophomore guard led Highlands with 16, Kendall the SR guard with 12 and Jr Luke LaFrange with 10.

December games are for building chemistry. How was the crowd and who won the JV game?

Decent crowd and Brossart won the JV game..

I didn't realize Posey had 16. Nice 3 point shot.

For the first game I thought HHS was OK. The positives are they played very hard and aggressive and battled. Kevin may have set a record for most substitutions in the first quarter. For a team that has struggled for the last few years they came out with a lot of confidence and bravado. That was good to see. Daughtery is a legit passer - best on the team hands down.

I liked 25 and his style of play. Sitting on the Brossart side I was the ONLY one who did. He gets his money's worth on his fouls and you take a chance trying to strip a rebound from him. He needs to be careful though. He looks like he's always ready "to go." Very thick kid.

They certainly struggle in the half court. First game so that can get better but shooting seems to be a potential issue. They'll succeed offensively through their D IMO.

Whoever has worked with the big boy from Brossart (Crawford?) on his low post footwork is to be commended and the kid is as well for executing it. Lost art. McHale-ish tonight with post moves.

He's a very nice player especially and can hit from 15. When he catches the ball at the high post he's a problem. He can hand it off for a driving layup, fake it and go to the rim, or keep it and pop from 15. Only downside to night was he missed a lot of makeable shots. He also got caught up a bit in the emotions of the game and drew a T for talking to a Bird player. Coach was not happy. Lesson learned.

BB's problem appears to be when the guards get heated up by the opponent. They really struggled with the Birds pressure and when they did break the pressure failed to make the Birds pay enough.

13 the lefty is not overly athletic but he is effective.

I agree on Daughtery passing. He has always had good passing skills. Would be interesting at the PG some. Actually was a pretty good first game for the Birds. They seemed to have their BBall legs already.

I don't think it cost the Birds the game, but the officiating was suspect at best. Poor for both teams. Must have been their first game too.

HHS tried to take advantage of the big floor. Run, run, run. Sub, sub, sub. Run some more. Sub some more.

Lots of fouls called. Lots of free throws converted by the Mustangs. They must have had over 25 points from the line.

I'll disagree on the officiating. The two teams simply failed to adjust. Both were very aggressive. I might agree that they passed on a few plays were fouls may have been called but with a few exceptions I thought they called a good game. In a game that has bodies flying around like this one did and with two very aggressive teams there are going to be plays where fans don't like the call. It's just the nature of the beast.

I can only think of about 3 or 4 plays where I thought a foul could have been called that wasn't. That's not bad in this type of game.

I thought they controlled a game that could have gotten out of hand. T'd a kid when he yapped. Got extracurricular fouls. Got illegal picks. Controlled the coaches especially when assistant coaches started yapping.

Here's what I heard from the Brossart side and it represents every school's fans.

Brossart on O: That's a foul, ref.

Brossart on D: Oh, let them play.

TMC turned out to be a great venue while the Birds home court still unplayable. I like watching a game from the end line balcony. Nice perspective.

Good first game for the birds. I thought the ball needs to move better in the offensive sets. Not enough assists. Daugherty is a fantastic passer. LaFrange attacked the boards had some nice stick backs and plays with energy. Posey shot well. Assist to point ratio needs work. I thought the defensive effort was good. Crawford had a bunch for the stangs.

Think Posey had like 16pts 5 assists 3rbs

3 steals. With 2 turnovers. He ran the offense well. Thought Kendall, Cain, and LaFrange had a good offensive showing. Finrock should be a bull on the low post as the season goes on. His ceiling is extremely high.

Birds need to keep playing with confidence. They could be a scary team when it comes together. Also need some more bench points.

I heard Posey was wild tonight . At least 5 turnovers in the game and was inconsistent with his 3 pointer
