That stat will become a thing of the past....the stat thats counts is that UL's offense is tops in the nation and has shown that it can score a lot of points on anybody...(Miami, VT..etc...) UL has been in conversations about National Championships and Heisman trophies.

 

The Big East and the scheduling of other top programs will erase the .500 stat. The future's so bright...I gotta wear shades!

If I could swap positions between any of the people in UK's and U of L's athletic departments it wouldn't be Tubby for Ricky or Rich for Bobby. It would be Mitch for Tom Jurich. That's the man I'd like to have as my AD.

 

Personally, I think Bobby Petrino is one of the top 10 coaches in college football. He hasn't won a national title and he may have some other question mark stats. But, he hasn't coached at an established powerhouse program like most other big names. Instead, he is on the verge of putting U of L smack in the middle of those big schools. Kudos to Jurich for realizing that now and making a pre-emptive move to try and secure Petrino. Most schools would play the waiting game until he won a national title or a big BCS bowl or something. I like this move better. It's plain to see that U of L is on the cusp of doing just that and this can only help. It gives security and ensures continuity in the program. When Petrino recruits now, the question of is he staying won't be looming as large. Obviously, these contracts are never concrete, but this helps. I also think Jurich realizes that if Petrino leaves, it's probable that any coach he hires will be a step backward. Petrino is a motivated guy too, so I don't think he'll have to worry about him getting complacent with big money.

He stays behind the scenes for the most part. All he does is make great decisions when it comes to hiring people for the university. I seriously think what he has done with the basketball and football programs puts him at the top of the list of AD's.

Pretty humorous to read some of these posts. I'm sure the feelings expressed over the summer don't ring true today. But then again, neither did Petrino's statements.

Well, sorry if I believe what my head coach says...If we went through life thinking every coach was lying, we wouldn't enjoy sports very much...

What's funny? The fact that Tom Jurich hand picked the one of the most coveted coaches in America, and he left for 5 mill to Atlanta...I hope Jurich keeps it up.
