Watching one of my favorite movies, RUDY, made me think of all my favorite sports movies and I realized outside of MAURY (the story of Maurice Stokes and Jack Twyman) I could not recall a single great sports movie with a basketball theme.

Great sports movies in my order of "got to watch every time it's on".

1). Rudy

2). The Natural

3). Tin Cup

4). Hoosiers (OMG, just remembered this is a basketball movie, blows this thread's credibility, and proves memory fades at 70).

Anybody else got any great sports movies, especially basketball?

The first 15 minutes of White Men Can't Jump. I crack up every time.

I always consider "Field of Dreams" and "Bull Durham" sports movies ... I put them at the top of my list.

Basketball Diaries is pretty gritty and doesn't involve alot of sports per se, but it revolves around a young high school star basketball player who gets into trouble with drugs, school, money, etc as his life goes down the drain. I wouldnt recommend it if you're looking to watch a inspiring underdog sports type movie.

I guess it's not really a basketball movie, but the basketball scene from Disney's "The Absent-Minded Professor" is a classic.
