Thank you! As of yesterday' date=' she got her full release for Dec 7th. She was elated!!! She tore cartilage in her wrist two years ago diving for a softball at an elite tryout. (Yes, she made the play, got the out and made the team!) LOL! But for the last two seasons, she's been playing with torn cartilage in her shooting wrist. She was reluctant to get it worked on because depending on what they needed to do once they got in there, it could have been as much as a year recovery. So with her age and being in the heart of softball recruiting, they managed it with cortisone shots and therapy. It never really got better, but she wasn't going to hurt anything to postpone surgery. So now that the important time for softball recruiting has passed, she decided to have the surgery. Poor kid has been hurt almost her entire high school career. Hopefully she gets back and can be better than ever.[/quote']

Glad to hear! I like the Moxie she brings. I thought HHS youngsters played hard. Jansen brought it to the big stage. Barth is no youngster in the way she plays. Berger is the real deal. That gal can play!!! Adler did not have it, watched her to long to know she will right the ship. Leigh needs to get stronger in the lane. Overall good early season test. Gabbard is still learning but thought she gave really good minutes

Tough to win when your two big guns go 2-16 from the field. Birds played hard and will certainly get better as time passes. In looking at the KHSAA roster, I noticed Kiersten Clukey's name but did not see her at the game. Anyone? Sure she would have made an impact at both ends of the floor.

Unfortunately she has missed a lot of practices and now a game due to soccer.

This is awesome news! Could not be more happy for her.

Highlands will be a much better team when Coffee gets back in the mix. A team without the point guard is like cutting the head off a snake. The rest of the body can lose it's function and direction.

With Coffee back, I think it is more than whatever numbers she might add scoring wise...although that helps. Suddenly now, the machine starts working more efficiently, and individual parts become more productive. You see higher percentage shots, less turnovers, more assist, and individuals ppg going up. Not to mention what it helps the team defensively.

Oops Harris is a freshman

You guys are probably gonna cry some more about Sacred Heart in the next few years.:thumb:

First and foremost, Ms. Coffey is a fine young lady, and I wish her nothing but the best for the remainder of her basketball career at HHS. In regards to Kiersten, she is currently involved in the College Soccer Recruitment Process, and is weighing her best option(s) both athletically, and academically. That said, my hat is off to the HHS Coaching Staff, as they were notified about Kiersten's Soccer schedule from the onset, and have supported her without hesitation. Kiersten currently attends basketball practices, as often as possible, and most times she will go to soccer practice right after basketball practice, or vice versa. Unfortunately, December is a very hectic time for College Soccer Recruiting. However, at the conclusion of that process, her primary focus will be on basketball for the remainder of the season, when it really counts. Needless to say, she will be in great shape. She truly loves to play basketball, however, just like Ms. Coffey, she has been playing {Soccer} at an Elite level for many years, and really wants to pursue Soccer in College. Again, my hat is off to the HHS Basketball Coaching staff for their patience, and understanding. Most B-Ball Coaches would have presented her with an ultimatum. However that was not the case in this situation. Classy, very classy IMO ! Go Birds.

I look forward to watching them play in the LIT at the end of January. Hopefully they will be at full strength.

I hope my "Unfortunately" wasn't misleading. The meaning was that unfortunately she hasn't been able to participate much due to soccer. I know why and where she is and wish her all the luck! She will be an asset when she returns.

Wish I could have seen this game...I think Sacred Heart will improve immensely throughout the year. Word is they have great chemistry after all the drama queens are gone from last year. Sometimes subtraction leads to great addition

Highlands will also be a hughe 9th region contender. Both the 7th and 9th regions are more like watching the show Survivor. Any number of teams can win. That round ball bounces funny sometimes

I was excited until you compared it to Survivor. I dislike that show. :puke:

I get your point though.

How does a catholic school get so many public school kids? Trinity does the same thing. It seems winning has become the main focus of these high schools. I'm not saying it doesn't go on elsewhere, but when you are providing "scholarships" to high schoolers, something seems wrong to me. I'd be willing to bet these "scholarships" would not be offered so liberally if they couldn't dribble or shoot a basketball or in Trinity's case, football as well. IMO

It works both ways.

There are several notable John Hardin, Central Hardin and Elizabethtown athletes who attended K-8 at St. James Regional Catholic School (which does not YET offer high school, just preschool-8th).

If Hardin County had a Catholic school, they might go there. Instead, they don't want to go to Bethlehem (30 miles away), so they stay home and go to CH or E (most) or JH.

I wonder how the HHS players and parents that are 100% dedicated to basketball, and seeing playing time now, feel about a club soccer player joining the team later this month, someone that could potentially limit playing time of someone who's there 100% now.

You can get on here and tell me that everyone is fine with the situation, but I can almost guarantee you, someone at HHS is not fine with it, or won't be in about a month. Special rules for special players rarely has a 100% acceptance rate.
