  1. Thanks RCC9, very much appreciated. Best of luck to your daughter, now, and in the future.
  2. Unfortunately, Elvis has left the building !
  3. First and foremost, Ms. Coffey is a fine young lady, and I wish her nothing but the best for the remainder of her basketball career at HHS. In regards to Kiersten, she is currently involved in the College Soccer Recruitment Process, and is weighing her best option(s) both athletically, and academically. That said, my hat is off to the HHS Coaching Staff, as they were notified about Kiersten's Soccer schedule from the onset, and have supported her without hesitation. Kiersten currently attends basketball practices, as often as possible, and most times she will go to soccer practice right after basketball practice, or vice versa. Unfortunately, December is a very hectic time for College Soccer Recruiting. However, at the conclusion of that process, her primary focus will be on basketball for the remainder of the season, when it really counts. Needless to say, she will be in great shape. She truly loves to play basketball, however, just like Ms. Coffey, she has been playing {Soccer} at an Elite level for many years, and really wants to pursue Soccer in College. Again, my hat is off to the HHS Basketball Coaching staff for their patience, and understanding. Most B-Ball Coaches would have presented her with an ultimatum. However that was not the case in this situation. Classy, very classy IMO ! Go Birds.
  4. Really have to question the omission of Shannon Eaton {Highlands Goalie}. Great young lady that had a fabulous year in goal. I'd compare her stats to anybody mentioned in this thread. Nice job young lady, great season ! That being said, congrats to all the lady's mentioned, and/or honored.
  5. It's amazing..... all that is ever mentioned regardless of wins or loses is; the haters, the Coach, and "The Issue". If I'm not correct, everybody that matters {H.H.S. School Officials} performed all necessary due-diligence, as it relates to investigating "The Issue". Apparently, they {H.H.S. Officials} were satisfied with the results of their findings. That said, why can't "the haters" let it go, since most of "the haters" don't even have kids in the system anymore, and weren't privy to the facts, or not, that was discovered, or not. My goodness, this Coaching Staff is changing the mentality of this program, from years of mediocrity. For all of this change, the only thing that is consistently brought-up on this thread is; "the haters, the Coach, and the Issue". What about the kids ? I have an idea, why don't "the haters" band together, and start their own blog..... they can call it; "We I Don't Like Anything That Happens, Unless We Say It's OK, When We Say It's OK". Move on people, neither the Coaches, or the Girls care what you think, or what you have to so ! THEY are the ones putting in all the hard work & effort. Stinks doesn't it. Have a drink, or two tonight, and take a deep breath. Tomorrow is a new day.
  6. Saw the 2nd half. These young ladybirds played very well. It should set them up well from this date forward. Nice blend of speed, and physicality when & where it's needed. It's a great day in Birdville. Nice job Coaches & Players, way to "Getter Done".
  7. Coaching Staff did a great job of getting the girls mentally prepared to play a physical game today. The girls did a fantastic job of controlling the ball, and tempo of the game. Pandas' are a very good team, however, the ladybirds had their ticket today, and it showed. Have a great time tonight celebrating the win, for tomorrow you need to get ready for Dixie. Great job by all !
  8. Why does the content of this gripe session sound like a bunch of has been "wonna bee's" ? Is this nonsense really that important to you guys ? While it's true that Highlands Football has dominated in NKY the last dozen or so years.... what does that have to do with this group of kids. I can truly understand that some "coaching staffs'" would like a little payback for years of abuse, however, I'm quite sure that this weeks preparation hasn't been based on what happened in years past. Heck, most of these kids wouldn't even know about what has happened years ago. Unless, they had older brothers that played against Highlands. I for one can truly respect all the hard work that has been put in by all Coaching Staffs & Players in the NKY Region. Rest assured, sports is a roller coaster, and has many ups' and downs. What matters most is how adversity is handled. That is what speaks volumes of a good coaching staff(s), and football program(s). Everybody please take a deep breath, because some of these football players will be playing football for the last time this season. I believe that they have earned your respect. Some times you just have to let go, but hey, that's just me !
  9. Hey soccerfan000, it's been real. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end..... real soon !!!!! Best of luck.
  10. They never needed them because they always had several girls that played on good club teams. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Hey, it's easy to coach kids that have a ton of talent, and are upper classmen, and been there, and done that. However, when you've got many that are young, that ain't the case. It's unfortunate that your daughter was hurt, but that's life in the fast lane. Every Coach is looking for the kid that is faster, and more talented. That said, it is irrelevant what Tommy & Nina did. For the most part when they won state titles, they has numerous girls that played on very good club teams, and were great athletes. Moving forward, that has not been the case, and you know it. JOAT, you have been around the block, and you know how sports in high school are, especially at Highlands. The bar is always set very high for these kids. and things aren't always fair. Be that as it may, Coaches at Highlands are judged on their wins. Not how nice they are, or, how fair they are. Those day's are long gone. Honestly, don't blame the Coaches..... blame the parents ! They demand from their children more than is realistic. How many times have you heard: "I'm paying a ton of money for your training, nutrition, and everything else. You will reach the pinnacle of your sport, or you are a loser". God, it's terrible. While you may have a difference of opinion with this Coaching staff, that's your right. However, life moves on, believe me, I've been there done that. The political stuff sucks. There is no winning for a Coach in today's environment...... there is only survival. Finally, this program is not the laughing stock of NKY. If that's the case the same would hold true for the Highlands Varsity Football Team. It's funny, but I don't hear you *Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post**Word Filter Violation - Edit Your Post* about that Coaching staff, or calling those hard working boy's the laughing stock of NKY. Simply put.... there is no difference. The Soccer girls work very hard. The Coaching staff works very hard. Just like football. Be careful where you chuck stones. When they come back, they hurt ! Good luck JOAT for I know that you truly care. Take a deep breath.... things will be OK !
  11. I agree with CAP, it's simply about growing pains ! There are "many" under- classmen {freshman & sophomores} playing in these games, and they need time to blend & learn from the other players on the field. Apparently, there are a number of upper classmen {and their parents} that aren't real happy {just like last year} with the amount of playing their daughters are getting. However, based on the amount of girls that play on "good" club teams, it's very apparent that the coaching staff believes that the girls that are getting the majority of the playing time give the "Team" the best chance of winning. Since everything in this community is based on "Winning", I can't blame the coaching staff for their decisions in this matter. Finally, gone are the day's that your grade/class guarantee's you playing-time. Like it or not, this mentality is observed by the clear majority of all sporting events in High School. Things are no longer based on "what's fair". That mentality went-by-the-wayside many years ago. Therefore, like it or not, trashing the coach, and/or, his staff serves zero purpose. Again, isn't everything in this community based on WINNING ???? It's unfortunate, but life is what it is.
  12. Highlands doesn't have the skill-set that they have had in years past. Going back to things that have worked in the past is a great idea, however, if you don't have the skill-set, how can you expect the same outcome. Give these boy's credit as they are busting their butt, and doing the best they can do. This is going to be a growing year, and nothing said on this thread is going to change that. The simple fact is this...... the coaches & boys are doing the best they can. Live with the results, and support them. Win, lose or draw. that's what champions, and their supporters do !
  13. I tell you what..... I bet that that great coach out at Simon Kenton will have his girls ready to run through a wall to get the job done. From what I'm told, he is already in the running for coach of the year. What a truly amazing job. Way to go !
  14. Let the Huddleston kid, proceed at a pace that will allow him to learn the game, advance his skillset, and have fun. I confident that neither he, or his family, are too worried about winning the Heisman Trophy, as an 8th grader. Father Time has shown us that many kids grow, and achieve at a level that many can't predict, at that age, or a bit older. That said, everybody would be wise to step back.... take a deep breath, and let things proceed as they may. Good luck to all that put in the time & effort !!!
  15. OK people, it's time to get a life. Nothing's going to change. Highlands Girls Soccer is moving forward, and there is nothing that can be done about it. If.... changes were going to be made, they would have been made. The girls are playing good soccer, and they are trying to figure everything out. How is that a problem ? If they {the girls} are ok with the way things are going, what does it matter what the adults think ? For the most part, these girls have forgotten more about soccer than most of the adults will ever know. That said, give it, and them, a break ! Jesus, talk about trying to tear apart a program, because he said.. that she said... that they said.. is a stupid premise. Get over it, and move on ! This group has a ton of potential. Rather than trying to rip it apart, get behind the program. If you can't do that... then you truly have no compassion for what the kids, and coaching staff are trying to accomplish. Life can be bittersweet, but that doesn't mean it has to last a lifetime ! These are kids trying to do their best, and represent their school. How is that a bad thing ? Go Highlands Athletes & Coaches, there are many in the community that support you, and all that you do !
  16. First and foremost, she "was not" cut from O.E. ! She decided not to play for O.E. because she also loves to play high school basketball, and couldn't commit to the mandated schedule of the club to stay on the active roster. Secondly, if you want to say she's not a top NKY soccer player, that's your prerogative, and/or opinion. Rest assured, this young lady will be fine, and will continue to play 2 sports, and ultimately will choose which sport she would like to pursue in College. NKY people {kids, friends & parents} are very loyal, and dedicated to those that work hard, and try to be the best they can be for; themselves, their school, and the community in which they live.
