That's bad news for Bowling Green then. If Pulaski's offense will test them more than a St. X team that scored 45 on the Purples.

 

St. X's special teams and untimely BG turnovers giving X short field hurt them more than St. X's offense.

 

St. X doesn't have a Riley Hall or a Jake Johnson. BG does have a Tre Fant and a more than capable front seven and coaching staff. It should be a fun fun game.

Excluding the one bad half for Bowling Green in week 3, BG's defense has allowed roughly around 10 points to each opponent. That being said, if BG can avoid a bad half of football on defense I feel like the Purples can take this win. Credit to Pulaski, as they will challenge the Bowling Green defense as Riley Hall will be a dual threat that Bowling Green hasn't seen since the Saint X game. X and Pulaski are two totally opposite teams but very similar at that. This game will be a classic and IMO the best game to watch of all at WKU this week (including the championship game between USM and WKU) If you have the availability to come to this game or watch it online, do so!! Classic mid-scoring shoot out, I predict! My heart says Purples, but we'll have to wait and see!

The two have combined for 123 receptions, 1983 receiving yards, and 26 receiving TD's. They have also ran for over 700 yards combined and another 11 TD's in some other capacity.

 

- #28 Jacob New is a playmaker on Defense and has accounted for 4 INT's and 3 Fumble Recoveries while adding 95 tackles.

 

- In last season's regular season matchup the Maroons were without Riley Hall. They suffered a 23-7 Loss on a muddy track. Not a single Maroon gained over 50 yards as BG held them to a combined 120 yards.

 

 

 

Bowling Green:

- Jamale Carothers has emerged as the key Purple. Carothers has over 1900 total yards and 26 Total TD's and was basically the entire BG Offense in their 21-0 win over a tough Fern Creek team.

 

- One of the most impressive stat lines of this Purple team is their passing efficiency. Though Clark Payne has notput up the video game numbers we have seen in year's past from the BGsignal caller, he has a remarkable 31:6 TD to Interception Ratio.

 

- Most people remember current WKU Hilltopper Nacarius Fant as he went on to become Mr. Football and perhaps the name most synonymous with the Purple program in their recent run of dominance. Trey Fant has continued the legacy of the last name well. The Senior DB has had a solid season recording 9 INT's. He is also a sniper for TD's. He has tacked on 3 INT returns for scores, he has also had a total of 10 offensive touches that have yielded an additional 4 scores.

 

Analysis:

Simply put, which Defense will make the big plays to go along with two Offenses certain to make plays. Pulaski is an Offensive buzzsaw with an entire slew of guys who can score in multiple capacities. Bowling Green has their own big play potential, but the Purples Defense has performed much more admirably against the better competition on their schedule.

 

Expect BG to protect the football and Pulaski to struggle a little with the team speed of the Purples. A very entertaining game throughout, but a couple more key stops lead the Purples to the hardware.

It'll be interesting to watch a matchup between a QB that almost never throws INTs (Hall threw his third of the year against Highlands) and a defensive secondary that has been incredible at turning teams over (25 INTs, seven of which have gone to the house).

Wow. Great job. I have a feeling there will be so many statistics and different angles on this game that by midweek fans may just go ahead and find their seat and just wait till kickoff.

 

Of course I am hoping for a BG win but this is what high school football is all about. 2 teams that are capable of winning in 2 different ways. Lots of talk and chatter.

Both of these teams make excellent adjustments in the second half. I think this game will be a classic.

Absolutely, you should be picking your team to win, that's the key part of being a fan. As a group, and not specific to you PP92, the comments are similar. Team speed, tradition, 4 of 5 years, etc. that's all I was saying.

ATL did a great job with some insight to this matchup and I wanted to add a few too:

 

Pulaski County:

Coaching: Coach Hines and his entire staff have done a Super job escalating the Maroons from a good team to a championship level team. They return to the Championship game for the THIRD straight year. Not an easy task.

Special Teams: Of all the Maroons I witnessed on Black Friday, none impressed me more than their kicker. The young man was out more than an hour before kickoff warming up. He hit a 55 yard field goal out of about 4 tries and was punting about 60 yards. Very impressive!

Offense: Riley Hall will be the best QB BG will play this year. For me its his savviness and unyielding desire to not get beat that makes him a star. Gregory and Johnson are both teriffic athletes. I honestly think Johnson's TD catch in the 3rd Q against Highlands where he went up and basically took the ball away from a Highlands DB was the turning point in that game and the Maroons never looked back. Also, Pulaski has an EXCELLENT OLine. Riley Hall has ALL DAY to throw against Highlands and late they wore down a smaller H line and ruled the day.

Defense: #44 MLB Helton (I think) is a great football player. He really changed momentum in the 2nd Half last week by stuffing alot of runs and he is physically a beast. They have other good players here that I'm not as familar with however, their down 3 lineman appeared on the smaller side.

Injuries: #44 is a VERY tough kid. He was basically dragging his leg at times and still making plays. #33, a good RB, was hit in the first half and sat out the rest of the game. Maroon also mentioned a few others banged up.

 

For BG:

Coaching: Coach Wallace and staff have put their stamp on this Purple program to expect to be in this game. This will be the 4th Championship game in the last 5 years.

Special Teams: Formerly a real achilles heel for the Purples has this year turned out well with Lee Ramsey really coming on in the kicking game and Deangelo Wilson very suitable with the punting duties. But I would say Pulaski has an advantage here, but not HUGE.

Offense: Everyone knows about Jamale Carothers RB by now and for good reason as he's a threat to go all the way everytime he touches it. The thing that BG has been able to do in Championship runs is to have multiple guys who can contribute. Look for WR Deangelo Wilson and SR SB Jacob Yates to be featured when Pulaski throws the kitchen sink at Carothers. IMO you can't make it to the Championship game anymore without good QB play and JR Clark Payne has played awfully well against stiff competition. Finally the BG OLine has gotten over some injuries in time to really play well against very stiff defenses namely Owensboro and Fern Creek.

Defense: This defense has really come on and played their best when they were needed the most! To be able to stop Owensboro inside their 5 yard line 3 times and only give up 6 points is very impressive for those who know how good Owensboro is. Pulaski County can throw the ball so BG will need to be ready for that, which is why I am glad they have a very formidable secondary led by Seniors Tre Fant and Griffin Cline.

Injuries: I am not aware of any major injuries for the Purples that significantly contribute other than OT Jordan Meridith likely will have to continue to wear a cast on a Fall Break injured hand.

 

Analysis: This will be a teriffic game as I feel Pulaski players and fans feel they are slighted respect because they didn't beat BG last year for the title of no fault of their own. So This is their chance with arguably the best team the Maroons have ever had.

 

If I had to rank all 4 offensive and defensive units, I would probably rank Pulaski's offense 1st and their defense last. I just feel that BGs offense will be able to make plays as the defenses they have played the last 2 weeks (Owensboro and Fern Creek) are IMO better than the Pulaski D. On the other side of the ball, Pulaski will score, I have not reservations in saying that, but I think Riley Hall will have to make MANY more plays with his feet than his arm.

In the end, there will be turnovers and possibly injuries that can affect this game beyond this.

 

I think Pulaski is an excellent team, but my prediction:

So i have re-read my posts, PP92, Purple88, PurpleNation. Please explain where we did not give credit where credit is due? Please point out our posts to the likeness you claimed. I disagree with you. I believe we have been very respectful and clear on the fact that we see Pulaski as a very formidable threat.
