Covcath by 15. Even if the jumpshots are falling. Like most teams not named CovCath, Cooper lacks depth.

Just like football some people seem to just underestimate Cooper. Not saying they will win but if people want to think that this team won't give everyone in this region fits because they are undersized they are going to be sadly mistaken. CCH is #1 for a reason but all the chatter about "superior" coaching really needs to stop. Both have great coaches who get the maximum from their players. Both teams have a top-rated player who have totally different games so no need to split hairs saying one can't stop the other because they both get "theirs". One team has a long-standing great basketball tradition and the other is slowly but surely making their own. Will be a good game and hopefully a preview of future regional action.

I'm a CovCath guy through and through, but a bigger Sully fan than me you'll never find. His team will be amped up and frothing at the mouth for this match-up. I love the way he coaches his kids.

Let's talk about style and matchups.

 

Note: I have do NOT know who is starting for CCH but I can speculate.

 

I'd assume we'll see CVH, Ruthsatz, CJ Fredrick, Flood , and probably Hepp.

 

I don't see Cooper playing their "bigs" a lot due to inexperience so they'll be small in some positions.

 

Who does that favor? Can they come up with a D to help shut down CCH inside game? Can they get enough pressure to make it difficult to pass to the post? Can Walter get playing time against a small team?

 

Does Tim put McNeil on Hepp? Is there some risk to that as far as getting banged around?

 

On D who does Hepp guard if all of the players are perimeter players? Does that limit his minutes? Does CCH throw some zone when Hepp is in? Do we see Mayer playing the 5 a lot and CCH then has a fast team as well?

 

Lots of fun strategy decisions to follow.

Sophmores Ruthsatz, Lenihan, Mayer (Pius), Walter and Kunkel (Conner) had 3-years of intense Middle School battles.

 

3 - Regional Titles between them. Conner in 6th & 7th, Pius in 8th.

Both teams have contributors who finished football only two Fridays ago so there's bound to be some basketball rust.

I mean I don't have an insight to either team, So I'm taking more a blind guess to this game. This will more than likely be a really sloppy game if I had to guess because both teams do have football players coming in and both will play hard nosed defense. The game will be low-scoring and close if I had to guess. I did not know that CVH was dealing with a hand injury, even if he is back and pain free, he will undoubtably not be playing at the level he will be in February.

I'll take Cooper 57-52. Home court advantage is what will give them the win.
