Turkey shoots down Russian warplane near Syrian border

Turkey says it has shot down a Russian-made warplane on the Syrian border for violating Turkish airspace.

 

Two Turkish officials told Al Jazeera the plane was shot down on Tuesday by the Turkish military according to the rules of engagement.

I'm afraid WW3 is getting ready to break out, just like ISIS wants.

Both pilots ejected. Some news sources are reporting that one pilot has died.

 

Syrian rebels control a lot of this area. Will be interesting to see who comes up with the pilots.

This will be interesting, as many military guys know on here Turkey is a key US interest and they are well equipped to defend themselves. Russia likes to play with fire and finally got burnt by somebody with the guts to do it.

I think this is called a quagmire. Their is so many different groups in this area fighting they have no idea who has the pilots.

The A-10s make sense if fighting ISIS. The F-15s mission is air superiority. Not that ISIS has many aircraft.

 

A proxy war that breaks out of Syria is a very bad thing.

The pilots were shot and killed as they parachuted down. At least that's what I read earlier today.
