Science Friction Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Majority of Americans Feel Like 'Stranger in Own Country' Including 45 % of democrats . We have taken so many millions there is nothing unique to being an American anymore . So what? I feel like a stranger in my own county. Most of those about me speaks "hick," curses the black President, and drives around with a Confederate flag in the back of their pickup.
Science Friction Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 you need to move ? Probably so. A nice blue state, perhaps? And I don't mean "Big Blue."
Clyde Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Majority of Americans Feel Like 'Stranger in Own Country' Including 45 % of democrats . We have taken so many millions there is nothing unique to being an American anymore . What was unique to being American previously? Is taking in immigrants new?
True blue (and gold) Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 What was unique to being American previously? Is taking in immigrants new? That's been my question, too.
LIPTON BASH Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 What was unique to being American previously? Is taking in immigrants new? If you are asking the question. Freedom , opposed to high taxes , and not supporting foreign parties who are against America. Those were the main founding principles.
Hellcats Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Reading the article these people may have a point. I think the argument is they don't feel like a candidate is reaching out to them due to the current political landscape. Politicians are looking to sway minorities and fringe groups and ignoring the majority of the country. I guess this why you see a Trump as a leader, because these people are fed up with being ignored. Much of this is the fault of the electoral system that doesn't split the electoral vote and is so spread out many states have very little interaction with candidates. (See KY) I think Bill was the last candidate that traveled down into KY.

thehotsnakes Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 The main demographic should feel that way, because their numbers are decreasing. It's not a major issue, it's not dome big deal where everybody needs to freak out. Old, uneducated, white southerners are a dying breed. More people are going to college, that's the major defining factor with all of this. The white percentage is declining. So, yeah, those people are going to feel that way. I'm not old, nor am I uneducated. So I don't share their view point.
PP1 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I think the same way about this as I do when Pre-race polls are revealed. No one has ever asked me and I have never known anyone personally who was asked either.
