Will the players transfering from Scott be eligible?

Featured Replies

Can SK win the District with these new additions? It sounded like they had a lot coming back anyway.....4A No. Ky. should be just as interesting as ever!!!

I think making the playoffs again is a good step, that will be no easy task. Holmes, and CC will be tuff too. Though I have nothing against shooting for the moon, winning the district this season is not that high of a probability. Dixie, BC, and Ryle are always in the thick of things in NKY 4A and this year appear to be fairly well stacked themselves.

The district will be a battle. Ryle destroyed us last season, we beat BC with Farrrris under center, and the DH game was heartbreaker, I think '06 will be very interesting.

Dixie losing Gibson does not hurt terribly...you must have missed the numerous players that can do just what Gibson did. He came on in the end of the season and did make some big plays but I think Dixie will be just fine without him. I wish him luck and look forward to the Sk-Dixie game! Maybe another close one???

I dont see why any player would want to leave the team they played for the previous 3 years. Regardless of a move or not I wouldnt personally want to play for another high school team my senior year no matter how good or bad my previous team was.

I say they should be able to play as long as they show a change of residence.

First let me say that if you need evidence as to why Scott has won less than 25% of their games over the last quarter century, look no further than this. If your a losing program, and your county has open enrollment(as Kenton Co. does), it makes it awful tough to build up your program. That being said, I'm very excited to see Mr. Haught this fall in the SK blue and white. I've always thought that he was a very good player on a bad team, and now I think he'll be able to open some eyes. Here is my preseason top 4:

1. Dixie

2. Boone Co.

3. SK

4. Ryle

Open enrollment has nothing to do with this situation. He would be ineligible if he merely changed schools. He has moved into another district, as have all these kids. But that is not to say that it probably has not hurt them, but to be honest, the problem is a whole lot deeper then open enrollment at Scott and I think you know that.

Gibson will help SK more than hurt Dixie this season if eligible, Dixie is deep. I'm not so sure what kind of QB SK will have for next season. Their QB is a a senior. I would hate to see him have a lack luster senior season. I am sure there is more to this one than athletics, cause no one would leave Dixie for SK IMO for that reason, especially if your a wide reciever and DB and will undoubtedly start at both positions this fall for either team. Good luck Tommy.

Sandman,

You seem to be very knowledgeable about NKY football. I've been a lifelong follower of the Eagle program and only see things from that perspective. I would very much like to hear what the issues are with the Scott program from someone looking in from the outside. (Maybe the subject of another thread). I will probably agree with you on most issues, but I would be interested in your comments...

All are comments are welcome from the others as well...

Add in Gibson at Wr/ Db this year and this team get's alot of extra FIRE POWER this year !:scared: I think they could go from just making the play-off's to fighting it out for the title in 4A this year in NKY !!!

thanks for the pub RED HEAT :fire: it should be very interesting this year!

Sure, there are plenty of other factors working against Scott when it comes to football. I wasn't implying that open enrollment had something to do with the Haught/Patterson situation. While the problem certainly is much deeper than open enrollment, I certainly think that open enrollment is the proverbial "elephant in the room". How do you get the top athletes(which Scott loses on a regular basis to Dixie, and sometimes SK) to come to your school? Win right? Well that's awful tough to do when the top 2 or 3 players each year that could be at your school choose somewhere else. Those top guys are the ones that win games on Friday nights. So for a coach that is trying to build a program(see Reigler), he needs to convince kids(and parents) that their son should come to Scott to play for a program that more than likely will win less than 10 games in their 4 year career. How many takers do we have? Not many. I'll agree with you that poor administration, focus on other sports, etc, etc, are all part of the reason that Scott has won less than 20% of their games over 25 years. But to say that open enrollment doesn't play a major role in keeping the program from progressing, I'm not buying that. Throw in a new field at Dixie, and heck, if I were a kid or parent, I wouldn't even consider Scott.

Hey I pull for you guy's , just not that one night !!!:D 4A in NKY just got alittle more exciting this year ! Who ya got coming back up front this year for SK ???

I see your point, after all who wouldn't want to go to Dixie? JK

Although you make some good points, how do you explain SK. Same district, not much better than Scott at one point not too long ago, and it looks as though they are starting to take off. Coach has been there a while and lost quite a few talented kids to HHS and others over the years. Open enrollment hurts Scott, no question. But it is not the only thing that hurts them. Most of it, seems to come from within IMO.

:thumb: I'll say this about open-enrollment for Scott . Yes they have lost some talent to this , but over the years coaches or ? have run OFF just as much talent ! There's some great talent in the school itself , but they can't bring it out !!! I know of 4 or 5 kids that where great in the NKYFL and Middle School that want nothing to do with the program ! I pull for Scott 's Football Program , and I would love to see them turn it around !:ylsuper:

Sadly enough...

We have such high hopes that our alumni Casey Fisk can turn this thing around, but it's not looking that good unfortunately. I thought that last years 2-8 was something to build on, but this 4A class creates a wicked schedule...

I'll remain a true believer!!!

I would take out 78 , I don't think they had any Sr's on the team that year . 1st year of football !!!:D
