I think it is most likely going to be a wet field and that is a plus for DS. I think DS has a favorable matchup with their defensive line vs our young O line. Oh and the DS QB is a hybrid in that he scares me more running than passing. The kid also is a elite punter but we have one that is also elite. The biggest advantage I think for either side is the Cards advantage in coaching where we have the best staff in 2A. DS should struggle to score against our defense and unless we pull a CAL and get a quick pick and fall way behind quick we will be fine. No 2 hit wonder here, this is where football is a annual event on Thanksgiving.

As far as local in Mayfield, I am not a fan of chain restaurants, so my favorite pre game meals are

Mid Town (not a fancy place by any stretch, but still a long standing iconic drive in style greasy spoon

 

Majestic- my favorite pizza around. Good buffet too, but I always get the pizza.

 

Los Amigos- typical Mexican restaurant, but good food and environment and it's clean

 

With that said, if you want a real treat, leave a little early and stop off in Grand Rivers (you will drive right by it anyway) to visit Patti's 1880s for the best pork chop you will ever eat. If you've never been, you need to give it a try. Fantastic environment and the food is even better. Good steaks too, but the 2 inch thick pork chops are just awesome.

 

To add to this, the stadium is across town from most of the familiar chain restaurants, about a 10 minute drive or less depending on ones savvy with navigation and traffic. For you Metro area visitors this should not be a issue. Here are the restaurants that are closer to War Memorial Stadium. Oh and we will need to get you the stadium address as it is not at the high school but across town.

 

- The aforementioned Mid-Town Drive In is only minutes from the stadium and has great burgers, real WKY BBQ, grilled chicken ect. But be prepared as it is like going back in time. The place is a old dated place that is not fancy but has a neat environment.

 

- Dairy Queen, a typical DQ

- Chow 45, a odd eatery for a small town. The menu has a variety of items, one previously mentioned is the chocolate bacon. This is a sit down restaurant.

- Dinner Bell, a mom and pop restaurant that usually has a country style buffet and I believe has limited sea food on the buffet on Friday.

-Carr's Steak House, it is downtown in a 100+ year old downtown building a couple blocks off the court square. A typical private owned steak house with a good menu selection and a bar. It obviously is sit down.

 

On the other side of town on the main commercial hub you can find a typical selection of the most all common fast food places. A family owned pizza place is my favorite known as Ace's Chicago style pizza. It is the real deal and I think the buffet is open on Friday Night.

 

I might also suggest that eating on the way down offers 2 very good options, Patti's is a sit down restaurant in Historic Grand Rivers on the banks of Kentucky Lake and is a must as Thumper described. They are famous for their grilled pork chop. The atmosphere is one of a kind, especially this time of year. It is only a couple miles off I-24. At the same location is Green Turtle Bay, it has a pricey restaurant that is on stilts overlooking the massive marina on Lake Barkley. Reservations are required. The atmosphere is nautical and the view of the massive marina and massive Lake Barkley are unique. The food is excellent!

 

Finally, in Princeton, 45 minutes out is a great pizza place that I like to eat at when out that way and it is right on the WKY Parkway interchange that you will be passing. Pagliai's Pizza. It is very busy on Friday night so what I usually do is call my order in and then dine in. Should you do this call ahead and have reservations. It has a huge, modern dining room, actually rooms and their pizza is excellent.

 

If you eat on the way down, Princeton, Benton and Draffenville offer the easiest fast food stops that have restaurants that are right at on very near the interchanges you will be passing through on.

As I said the other day I have Mayfield winning it all. If they lose DeSales will win a third straight title. Which ever team wins wins it all IMO. But I still say Mayfield wins. Mayfield 28-17. I do wish my brothers from the southend luck as I know what it is like to play in war memorial stadium and it is a great experience.
