I have to admit I didn't expect CH to win vs McCracken. It just shows you can't go off of who beat who by whatever during the season. PT beat McCracken in week 1 by 14. CH beat PT by 20+. CH beat NH by 7, McCracken beat NH by 38. Turnovers play a big part in these losses. The BG vs McCracken game was this way as well. Given BG is by far better than McCracken, but only finished with 40 more yards than McCracken & won by 24 points. McCracken had 5 turnovers that game too. McCracken probably should've won against CH, but turnovers & penalties killed em. Inside the 10 twice & fumbled. Not to discredit CH, it was a well deserved win. They may not win vs Male, but from what I seen from them they know how to tackle. Their offense is not that good, & Male will own them on D. CH's defense could keep it close for a while though. I'll say Male 35-7.

For it as a program, Central Hardin played a GREAT schedule in the regular season. Boyle, South Warren and Bowling Green are prime-time programs. John Hardin is usually solid (but had issues this year). Meade is usually solid (but we KNEW Meade would struggle this year ... and they did). Bullitt East is usually better than this. Collins is OK (but was solid in previous few years). Woodford is Woodford, and North Hardin still needs to get its defense worked out (pretty sure we said that last year too).

 

HOWEVER:

- Central Hardin's scheduled was NOT even the toughest in its own county. North Hardin's schedule currently ranks tougher on CalPreps (that will change after CH plays Male, though).

- If you put Central Hardin's and Elizabethtown's wins side by side, both CH and EHS would have four wins each in the top 8 (CH with McCracken, John, Tilghman, NH ... E'town with Caldwell, PT, North, Adair). Both CH and E claim PT and NH in their top-four wins and NOBODY claims E'town has played a good overall schedule (and frankly, they haven't. It rates a 3.6).

 

Has Central Hardin played a good schedule? Yes, better than 75 percent (probably higher) of most teams. At one point in the regular season, Central Hardin had a top-20 schedule out of 220-ish teams in the state.

 

But is Central Hardin's schedule on Male's level?

Nathaniel.... I'm a John Hardin homer to identify myself. I'm not sure I would say John had issues this year. 9-4 with losses to 3 teams still playing!!! Lol. Central 10-3, south Warren 13-0, and Shelby County 12-1. Losing to these three teams doesn't define issues it defines playing a solid schedule. Just my opinion.

I think what Central is doing is wonderful. They are still trying to establish a tradition in football. Reaching 3 straight region final was unthought of just 8 years ago. Then Coach Lawson came thru and Central improved, then Coach Perry came thru and the continued to improve. Now comes Coach Mattingly and their defense has never been this level and the offense has improved thru out the season. Their difficulty of schedule was a big step up for them this year from years gone by. So my final assessment is, they have gotten better each year since Lawson's first year to this year with Mattingly.This is their first regional title. Are they at Male and Trinity levels yet? No. Are they the best they've ever been? Yes. They are at the level that they be a David every now and then and catch Goliath looking ahead or taking them for granted. They have player who believe now that they can beat anyone and they don't give up anymore. I don't need stat or figures from another website to see this. I've been attending 90% their games for the last 12 years when my oldest son played and wins were rare even with light schedules then. My middle son played for Lawson and Perry and got enjoy a few more wins than oldest son. We all keep coming back every year to see them improve to where they are. The big 3 may never respect them but they get more respect now from everyone. There is no need to point out what they aren't when they have so many accomplishments to point out. Guess for some its easier to be negative and shoot everything down but now that how no one will ever get the big 3's respect. If the kids have to hear how they can't do things every week they will believe they can't and the game is over before its played. Now with that said and out of the way.....GOOOOOOO BRUUUUUUIINNNNSSS!!!!!!! i'm proud of you and your dedication.

I completely agree with everything you said! It is just that Mr. Bryan has always been the naysayer when it comes to CH. That is what I'm pointing out. He was that way at his previous employer as well. I can Google all the stats and records I want without him copying and pasting on here. I just hate when certain people spend so much time on negatives toward certain teams. We all know that Male is a different breed of football team and has been so for a while, Stevie Wonder can see that without all the stats and records. CH has done something for the 1st time in school history, let's celebrate this accomplishment and enjoy Friday night!

Hardin County Preps..Obviously u didn't review the schedules that close. If I remember CH lost 42-6 at Bowling Green. First, I wouldn't call that a competitive game..second they lost 24-3 to South Warren again not very competitive. Name one quality win for CH? Male has beaten Trinity (Twice)..St. X..Manual (Twice) and PRP. its one thing to play a team on your schedule its a whole different story beating those teams or even being competitive.

To be honest..CH this year is not as good as last year's team and that team got throttled by Meade in the Regional game last year. The problem is CH really hasn't played anyone in the playoffs that could prepare them for what they will see this friday night. Meade played just about as hard of a schedule in the playoffs last year (Henry Clay..Scott Co..CH..Trinity) as you probably can play and Meade still wasn't ready for what Trinity brought. That's not a bust on Meade or CH (The coaches do an outstanding job with the talent they have). Trinity and Male play in the toughest 6A district, face the best competition week to week and in Trinity’s case outside the state. That prepares them for the playoffs. That’s not saying it can’t be done..because Meade has done it. Just like Trinity last year, Male is just on a whole different level athletically this year. Good Luck CH !!! Yes, they have similar (skill position) athletes. If you knew North and Male like I knew North and Male then you'd agree...clearly you don't. But athletes don't make a team, it's a lot more than to it than just the skill guys....we all know that. Without a sufficient line, athletes become obsolete.
