There were a bunch of comments about the field conditions... used yours as an example. I actually didn't notice I quoted you twice. I just quoted one complaint and the suggestion that the game be moved due to field condition. You are right in this, when you mention it in the first post it does not come across as whining, but the accumulation of comments about it and the accusation that Cooper intentionally watered down their field before the game to gain an advantage is whining. The suggestion that the game be moved to a neutral sight also comes across as whining, to me. Sorry to lump you in with those who meant to imply something more than simply commenting on field conditions. If you did not intend that, I apologize for falsely accusing you.

 

That does not change the fact that the game was invented and designed to be played in the elements. Both teams had to play on the same field (as noted by BigDaddy6). Suit up, lace up, and play the game.

 

BTW, I am not a loyalist for either Cooper or SK, though I did favor the team from my county in this one. I know more of the players on that team.

I could see him playing at a smaller school, the kid works harder than anyone and has a great attitude. Not sure if he has the size for the bigger schools but with today's trend of faster, smaller players it's possible.

Congratsvto both teams on what must have been a great game!

Cincinnati. Not sure where else but Cincy was his #1 at least for now. Also heard the Nathan Brown (qb) has received D1 offers - comment was Eastern KY as well as possibly Tennessee.

 

Be careful. Big difference between interest and offers.

Congrats to both teams on being the best 2 teams in NKY this season. Randy understands that he has to play his studs both ways to compete. Jeff has developed a very solid program where he has 22 starters. Best wishes to the Neers as they host Lafayette. Cooper's seniors did a great job.

I was driving. I think there is a commercial saying you shouldn't do that.

I heard the refs for SK/Ryle game where the same ones for the Cooper/SK. Not surprised at all.

The refs let the game go unless it was too blatant to not throw the flags.

 

As it should be this time of the year. Let the kids decide the games.

 

Some are are "sore" no matter what side they come out on

It's sad that you are complaining about the officials. I'm sure Cooper could do the same. What about the deep pass to Hendrix and SKs corner being all over him which should have been an easy pass interference call that would have put the ball at the 15. Or just look at the last offensive play of the game for Cooper. The defender for SK grabbed Nathan Browns face mask when tackling him. Should have been a flag there and 15 yards and automatic first down. Which would have put Cooper in field goal range.

 

There were plays by both sides that the refs could have thrown. So to sit here and complain and try to make excuses for how Simon Kenton barely won is sad. Cooper has now given Simon its two toughest games of the year and very easily could have won this one. Simon Kenton made the play at the end though to win it. So don't take away from a great game played by both sides with your complaining. Both teams had to deal with the same stuff.

This game was made interesting by the pregame field hydration treatment! I walked this field after the game and it was an absolute mud pit. I nearly lost my balance just walking! No way was there enough rain this week for this field to be that unplayable!

 

SK had to relocate a soccer playoff game because the field did not meet KHSAA specifications. No way should this, or any playoff game, should be allowed on such a field. This game should have been moved to Ryle. After all, they have no use for football stadium this time of year!

 

The field was unplayable? Wow. It seems to me some people have forgot how a football field is because they been spoiled with field turf. What exactly did the field do to change the game? Did the field cause the fumble by Simon Kenton? Did the field cause the interceptions? What exactly did this unplayable field as you said do to change the game? Both teams had to play on the same field. I mean should Cooper have complained when they played at Simon that it was not fair since SK always plays and practices on field turf, while Cooper is use to grass?

 

It was the same field conditions for both teams and was not the reason for the game coming down to the end.
