I have zero problem with either comment. Pretty tame in the overall scheme of things.

Both of them sounded like fools. Doesn't mean I have an issue with either of their comments. Simple enough?

My only thought with the comment, he put it out there and needs to own it. You saw the reaction when the reporter says wow, he minds starts churning and he back pedals and starts giving compliments and saying what a great team.

Agree with this completely... Those that talk about how he complimented Dalton and the team need to look at closely again... He had a planned "childish" comment and only after he saw her negative reaction did he start to back pedal and throw out compliments... He never intended to give out compliments.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things... Bengals are 8-1 and could finally be on their way to securing a playoff bye for the first time in forever.

 

And as many have said, much ado that has been dug up by the media... Wasn't a really relevant question to ask Andy after a tough loss.

Dalton on Watt response: 'My reaction wasn't warranted'

 

Two days after exchanging postgame comments through the media with Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt following a Monday night loss at Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton said Wednesday he should not have reacted the way he did in his postgame interview session.

 

"What I did wrong was I responded to what somebody said that he said," Dalton said. "I never even heard his interview. So I don't know the context in which it was said, I don't what he said before, I don't know what he said after. On my part, I shouldn't have reacted the way I did without hearing what he said and actually hearing what he said. I'm responding to what an interviewer tells me he said. From that standpoint, my reaction wasn't warranted."

 

On the field following the Texans' 10-6 victory, Watt told ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters that "Our goal was to come out here and make the Red Rifle look like a Red Ryder BB Gun, and I think we did that. He is a great player, and they are a great team, but our coaches put together a great game plan, we executed the game plan, everybody did their job."

 

In the interview room, Dalton was asked about the first part of the comment.

 

Dalton said he hasn't seen the interview and has not plans to.

 

"I don't care," the Bengals quarterback said. "But, I've got no ill will towards J.J. There is no feud between me and J.J. We lost the game. he said what he said and we're moving on. That's in the past now."

IMO if you’re going to allow the media to call you “The Red Rifle” then your fair game.
