Sounds likes we are back to the "we always lose the first game on purpose." Until CAL beats Desales in playoffs, I think Desales has the advantage. Desales has to run the ball. If I am Desales, I don't let my quarterback throw more than 5 passes. CAL wants him to throw it. The key to the game will be quarterback pressure by Desales and a few interceptions. Desales does that and they win. Key for CAL will be some running yards to keep people out of the box. Good luck to both teams.

 

Excellent synopsis. Barring a turnover margin for either team, this will come down to which team executes better on its strength.

Unfortunately Cardinals44, the Male vs Trinity game will suck up all of the oxygen in the room from a media perspective. I am unaware of any media outlets that will be carrying the game.

OUCH! While it is impossible to criticize someone for picking CAL in this game, I can't imagine them scoring 28 points. They had a pick-six and another INT returned to the 5 yard line last time and still only scored 16. On the flip side, as I tell my son in the most simple terms, we scored ZERO last time, and zero isn't going to beat ANYBODY!!!

This should be a close game if both teams can prevent turnovers and come ready to play which I expect they will. CAL has an incredible defense which will be hard for the Colts to handle. Looking forward to Friday Night!

Crap, that's ashame.. I mean, I understand the interest in the Trinity/Male game, but, geez, this game is big, as well and deserves some coverage.. I know, I'd listen or watch given the opportunity.. 2 great small schools in the biggest urban area should draw a radio station somewhere..

 

As far as the game goes, I like Desales in the rematch.. The later the season goes and the colder and nastier the weather gets, the more it favors the running team and the team with superior size, plus, they've turned the table on CAL for 3 years in a row, so, they obviously know how to make the necc. adjustments.. I would argue that it is not necessarily the adjustments that DeSales made that allowed them to win the past few years but instead the injuries CAL suffered with losing their QB two years ago and their TE, DE, and Safety last year.

I would be HIGHLY surprised if the numerous projections of CAL scoring 20-plus points occurs (barring two more defensive TDs of course). DeSales hasn't given up 20 points in a game since the 2013 state championship game. I think if DeSales scores 14, they win the game. But I'm not sure they can score 14......

CAL did lose their QB in 2013, but the final score was 34-0. He was really good, but come on....Last year, the Colts played the playoff game without their leading rusher, and their best OL was sick and hadn't practiced all week leading up to the game. That is where the depth comes into play. Injuries are part of the game.
