A little wet right now in Dry Ridge.......but jumped 2 getting to the stand and two cute little ones just walked by...

Spoke to a buddy who shared that him and his son both harvested does....and he shared a really cool story which I'll relay to you all!

His nephew was out hunting and took his daughter out as well armed with a .243 down in the Richwood area. Heard a gnarly grunt coming up from a draw of thick chest high weeds/grasses.

Moments later a 200 poundish typical 9 pointer emerged from the weeds into the edge of a cut hay field. His nephew was really close to taking the rifle away since she was really struggling to find the vitals in the scope yet was patient and encouraged her to take her time and breadth.

One breadth later his * 10 year old * daughter had harvested her second consecutive buck. She took her first last year at the age of 9 which was a 125 green scored buck. And this 200 pound bruiser is in the 150 range. :dancingpa

I love hearing stories likes this. Young one is setting the bar high at an early age!

:lol2:

Happy hunting this weekend...be safe and have fun!!!

Took off today to hunt, so far I've seen just as many as I would sitting at my desk

AHA, you've used up all your luck in the past couple of seasons.

My dad used to say on seasons like that, "just paying your dues". He was probably right.

Probably so. nothing moving this morning.

I had a buck in my front yard this morning I scared off getting into my truck. Damn trespassers won't stay off my lawn.

Standing on my back deck last night, Mr. Cat and I heard leaves rustling. A doe came out of the woods walking fast; a buck was right behind her walking just as fast to catch up with her. Love must have been in the air! :jump:

Would someone tell my 16 year old son that!h He's been hunting with me since age 8 (he's killed at least one a year since then) and I don't think he's ever been hunting and never seen at least one deer.

So far, I've had 3 daylight to dark days, and 3 daylight to 2-3:00 pm days in the woods. Haven't seen much for the time I've put in..... This is the first year the soybeans I hunt over were cut before the season started. I see a big difference.

I jumped a buck and doe bedded up together when I was walking in this afternoon. Other than that nada.

You got more patiences then me, unless I was seeing a steady stream of deer no chance I could sit that long. Movement has been slow for us however we pulled the cards in some of our cams got a nice buck on one that we hadn't seen before. Was taken Thursday afternoon at 4:30. Hopefully that joker sticks his head out in front of me this weekend.
