November 11, 201510 yr I have never understood why not wearing seat belts is illegal in most, if not all states, but kids on school buses don't even have the option to wear one. How can that be???
November 11, 201510 yr I've never understood why seat belts are mandatory on personal and work vehicles but not on school busses.

November 12, 201510 yr It's more about the age and number of students. If there was a true emergency, you would not be able to help the youngest students evacuate the bus quick enough if they are belted in. Today's buses are built so the higher seat backs and closer seats form a padded cocoon around the student. The buses are safer, but no vehicle is perfect.

Until the bus flips over, then everyone is screwed.
November 12, 201510 yr However, the federal Head Start program requires belts... Not so, for the state funded buses used for daily transportation. A little bit of an inconsistency.

Usually they sit right behind the driver so they can talk. Like that is controlling behavior! :ohbrother:
