A good way for a protest to lose the public

Featured Replies

And even worse now according to Twitter there are some unsettling racial incidents taking place on the Mizzou campus tonight and folks are asking where the media is to cover these events. Of course the media isn't going to be a friend now. Folks are their own worst enemy sometimes.

Sounds like things are getting out of hand right now and dangerous. Threats being made for folks to not come to campus tomorrow and stuff like that.

Thank God she will still be teaching there. Wouldn't want to lose out on such valuable research.

Current research projects involve 50 Shades of Grey readers, the impact of social media in fans’ relationship with Lady Gaga

The guy leading the protest has been on campus seven years and his family is worth over 20 million.. They must really be proud of him..

Word? Well his whole stance loses credibility with me now.

I think it shows a general lack of responsibility and disregard for the numerous advantages and opportunities presented to him. If he is in his 3rd year of grad school, that's another story, but if he has been an undergrad for 7 years....then yikes. Kid needs to spend less time rabble-rousing and more time in the library.

He was protesting graduate students losing Healthcare and he has a father who makes $8 million dollars a year. We all have convictions just call me crazy that I wouldn't want the face of a movement against privilege to be a guy born with more privilege than 99% of the country.

Spoken like a true republican. He comes from privelige so how dare he stand up for those who don't come from privelige.

He is a graduate student is how I have seen it reported.

Nothing wrong with standing up for them but he sure can't know how they feel.

It would be kind of like Warren Buffet or Al Sharpton leading a movement for people to pay their taxes on time.

I just call it self awareness. To preach the evils of some form of privilege when you in fact have benefited from privileges 99 % of the population hasn't.

It's like Al Gore preaching climate change while flying cross country on Private jets.

Self awareness could help some liberal causes out.

Look at the protests going on at Yale. Self Awareness can be very helpful.

What if his family cut him off. Then he may now how they feel.

I don't know his story other than him being a protestor and a graduate student. Just because he comes from money doesn't mean he has to embrace that lifestyle.

Let me tell you a story of a young man named Tommy Callahan. It took him 7 years to get through Marquette, but that young man got it together post graduation and saved his family's brake pad company, and really, a whole town that depended on the production factory. In short, there's still hope for this young man at Mizzou.
