A good way for a protest to lose the public

Spoken like a true republican. He comes from privelige so how dare he stand up for those who don't come from privelige.

Seems that the Kennedys had a lot of money, yet they were instrumental to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Additionally, I don't believe that they were black.

Let me tell you a story of a young man named Tommy Callahan. It took him 7 years to get through Marquette, but that young man got it together post graduation and saved his family's brake pad company, and really, a whole town that depended on the production factory. In short, there's still hope for this young man at Mizzou.

Classic movie. Thank you for this.

:lol2:

Excellent. Miss that cat.

What if his family cut him off. Then he may now how they feel.

I don't know his story other than him being a protestor and a graduate student. Just because he comes from money doesn't mean he has to embrace that lifestyle.

You can what if things to death. What if they didn't and suppose he does embrace that lifestyle?

So if Mitt Romneys son was doing this I'm sure the left would support him complaining about the health care as a graduate student.

We all have beliefs and conviction and I'm not fault ing his, your income doesn't define you . It's been the basis of most my beliefs. What bugs me is when the left vilifies people with money except when they have their narrow view of what's right.

My main point of the post was just to say if I was starting a movement against alleged privilege I would want support from everyone. I just wouldn't want the face of the movement to be the Son of a multi millionaire who grew up with more privileges than almost every other student.

Well if he doesn't, his family can afford whatever treatment is needed.

I guess that is what makes folks different. I don't question people's backgrounds if our beliefs are the same. Do you believe that white privelige is a problem in today's society?

We have already discussed this ad nauseum. I don't think a majority of white people have any privilege at all and it's socioeconomic problem.

A bigger problem is a bunch of whiney privileged college students who don't understand freedom or yo be more specific freedom of speech.

Well if he doesn't, his family can afford whatever treatment is needed.

And that still doesn't mean who shouldn't stand up for those who aren't as fortunate as him.

So if I(black dude in 2015) came out and said white privelige is a myth and an excuse that unsuccessful blacks use then you'd say my message doesn't count because I am not white?

I don't know what your asking me ? Everyone can have opinion. I don't discredit opinion based on race.

I question the entire discipline of Sociology and where it has gone the last two decades but that's a topic for another day.

But this concept created by Sociologist has so many holes in it. To say someone has a better shot in 2015 to succeed based purely off race is a joke to me.

When most people think white people they think of Rich people , ivy league grads who Control most fortune 500 companies. But that isn't a large majority of white people . Most of us have our own problems and our own struggles.

If you want to say rich people have privileges most people don't then I agree.

If you want to say racism exists obviously I agree. The problem with the argument is we fold the genealogy term of racism into this poorly thought out concept of white privilege.

So we correlate if some people are racist then white privilege must exist. Sorry we can agree to disagree.

And that still doesn't mean who shouldn't stand up for those who aren't as fortunate as him.

Correct.

What if he were a rich white guy?

Kill all that noise. I'm not discussing white privelige.

You said the graduate student came from money and because of that he shouldn't be the face of the movement for maintaining healthcare for graduate students.

I'm simply asking you if you'd have the same problem with me being the face of the white privelige doesn't exist movement. Would you have a problem with me being the face of the white privelige doesn't exist movement or is that fine if I champion YOUR cause since we agree? Even though I'n black. Would you say I can't be a part of the white privelige doesn't exist movement since I am black?
