November 4, 201510 yr I was/am genuinely surprised Bevin won. And I'm blown away by the margin. I know Kentucky is a conservative state, but we've typically gone Democrat in gubernatorial elections. Couple this with Mitch's lopsided victory over ALG, and I think this has more to do with Kentucky's dissatisfaction with Obama than it does Conway or ALG. I agree with all of you who say that Conway & ALG were both bad candidates who ran poor races, but I think both victories have more to do with the President.
November 4, 201510 yr A few coments: Kentucky Democrats blaming every loss on Obama is getting to be old hat. Man up and take care of the problem. I imagine Patrick Hughes will soon be relieved of his duties of state Democratic chairman. How many bible/Christian references did Greg Stumbo make in his speech broadcast on KET last night? He was "out-religioning" the Republicans. How is this different then the national Dems blaming everything on Bush? Blame anything but your own shortcomings.
November 4, 201510 yr Boone, Kenton, & Campbell: Bevin - 44,520 Conway - 27,977 Fayette & Jefferson: Bevin - 102,215 Conway - 150,452 Rest Of State: Bevin - 365,036 Conway - 248,515
November 4, 201510 yr Not relevant to my post. Ky Democrats are essentially moderate Republicans in ideology. Except those KY Democrats in Louisville and Lexington. Those Democrats would make Obama proud.

November 4, 201510 yr Wonder how much of that differential is Obama/EPA coal-related? Has to be a lot.
November 4, 201510 yr Has to be a lot. Bevin got 61 percent of the votes in NKY and 59.5 percent in "rest of state." Is this a new reality for Democrats? Will the latter number improve when Obama leaves office? Or has Kentucky finally joined the solid Republican South?
November 4, 201510 yr The more the Natl' Dem party steams towards outright socialism and far left policies the harder its going to be for blue collar Ky moderate democrats to have a home . Let me invite you to switch parties immediately . We don't bite , heck we don't even bark very much .

The three points in Kentucky's Golden Triangle. What can really contribute to the vote patterns being so different.....and not just last night but over the long term.

The biggest problem with me becoming a Republican (again) is that I'd have to walk around in public 24-7 with my right hand on my wallet.
November 4, 201510 yr The biggest problem with me becoming a Republican (again) is that I'd have to walk around in public 24-7 with my right hand on my wallet. And the biggest problem with me becoming a practicing Dem again is that I'd just have to consign my paycheck over to the government. No wait if I was a Dem I wouldn't have to do that, I'd want to make everyone else do that.

No wait if I was a Dem I wouldn't have to do that, I'd want to make everyone else do that. Maybe I can get one of those biker wallets with a big chain so I won't have to keep my right hand on my wallet 24-7. Paul Ryan is going after SS and Medicare benefits, and now Matt Bevin and his boys will be setting their sights on teacher and state worker retirement benefits. Sheesh!
November 4, 201510 yr Maybe, just maybe it's time for teachers and state workers to have to face the same problems the rest of us have to planning for retirement. Maybe if they did we wouldn't be in the pile of :poop: we're in right now.

Maybe if they did we wouldn't be in the pile of :poop: we're in right now. So you're saying that teachers and state workers are to blame for the state's under-funded pension plans? Sheesh!
