No they need to actually be competitive when they play a good opponent. It hasn't happened since Shawn Alexander was in state.

Maybe the big boys in NKY need to stop scheduling inferior opponents to pad the record and go play someone, at least then they can gauge what they need to compete?

NKY 6A is on the rise, and that is a good thing. But when an area has had only seven finalists and zero title winners in the past forty years (4A/6A) and four of the finalists are a team that hasn't been relevant for twenty years, then it's a bit difficult to accord that area's 6A teams much accolades. Especially if you are the type of person that believes that respect must be earned.

 

It doesn't help that they rarely play good teams outside of their area and thus the quality is hard to gauge. If Highlands were as strong as usual it wouldn't be a problem, but with them down this year, we only have Bryan Station for comparison.

SK rolls big, a win by 28+ will not surprise me at all.

Call me when a 6a school from NKY is still playing vs the varsity in the second half in BG. Trinity could go undefeated every year too if they scheduled like your boys do. Same with Male/St X and Scott County. The choose to sacrifice that unblemished record by scheduling tough to prep for what matters.

The 10 wins deserve respect. We lined up every week and ended up on the right side of the scoreboard every week.

Interesting. Could you share your source there? KHSAA doesn't seem to have that data.

 

I'm not saying NKY should have had those records. I'm saying that when it comes to the largest football class NKY has not had success,regardless of the reasons behind it. This lack of success, especially with the lopsided losses in the finals over the past decade, is the reason people do not expect much from them.

 

Simon Kenton has the chance to prove otherwise, but until they win state or at least play close as runners up then people will only continue to see no credible threat in NKY.

 

Scott County got a similar treatment until they took the title in 2013.

10 wins against teams that wouldn't compete for a 6A title don't mean much. In fact I don't even like the fact that Trinity had to have Seneca and JTown on the schedule because they did nothing to help the Rocks but they were stuck because of district play. NKY teams until they win the big one always will deal with these comments as long as their out of district games are middle of the road teams.

 

Right because a game with Moeller, Cincy X, Elder or Coelrain would be soo expensive to schedule.
