It couldnt have possibly been that we were a better team than them...And as for the last time Sk went to the State finals, we upset Manual and Male before losing to a very much superior Trinity. How do we know? Again, NKY 6a simply has done nothing to impress. Cooper goes out of town and got dump trucked by 7-3 Bryan Station and Ryle struggled with a much smaller school Lex Cath. To answer your question I would say they are just ok, not good

If the enrollment numbers listed above are accurate for Kenton County, Simon Kenton better pull off the "improbable victory" against Goliath soon. Is it possible that in the near future that their ranks could be thinned out by the building of another high school? The population explosion in Independence has been a welcome change for the schools and public services, bringing in more tax dollars but can be a double edged Sword. Look at Boone County. Athletes and academic minded students and families have a choice. What happens to Simon when the same choice is presented in Kenton County by a shiny new school with all the latest options and offers better opportunities.

I honestly feel Ryle, Simon Kenton or Cooper are quite capable of playing with anyone in the commonwealth. Football is obviously a skill game but mostly a game of position. If you have smart position players that can read the flow of the play and know where to be then size and skill advantage is brought down a peg. Why do you think a 160 pound corner in the nfl can level a 240 pound running back? He can read the play, know where the back is going and be there at the right time. Staying low helps to survive to the next play but a smart team that is well coached can be competitive

Kenton county won't build another school as long as there are open seats at Scott. They may re-district again to take some enrollment pressure off SK but a rumored new HS in the far southern end of the county remains a rumor.

The weather should be perfect on Friday night. Rain is should stop in the afternoon and the temperature should be around 60 degrees.
