Michigan punter receiving death threats ...

Featured Replies

ESPN reported this morning that the Michigan punter was receiving death threats, suicide invitations on social media. That is SICK ! Most if not all of those Pin Head Losers that would and are doing this hopefully can be prosecuted some way.

My message to these idiots on social media that would do this is simple .... "that punter has probably already accomplished more in his lifetime than your sick butt will if you live to be 100. So, get out of your mommy's basement and do something positive in your life for a change."

I think ESPN is a little quick to label something a death threat.

I'm sure these are morons commenting on social media and message boards. I doubt anyone is actually wanting to kill him.

That being said, there's never any excuse for posting comments like that. But I doubt there's a firing squad lined up like ESPN made it sound.

10 seconds left why didn't they just run the ball one more play?

Oldrambler summed up my thoughts in his post above. There are so many "what ifs" in game that it makes your head spin to think about them. What if the snap was not low, what if they ran instead of punted, what if he fell on the ball, etc, etc. So this young lad will have to live with the "what if" that changed the game on an instant. My guess is that he will get over it much sooner than the people who's life is defined by a Michigan victory or a Michigan loss. The punter is a student athlete getting an education at a top notch university. His job is not to define the happiness or sorrow of individuals that frame their lives around sporting events. If he had gotten the punt off you would not even remember his name, ever.

It was 4th down.

Absolutely ridiculous if it is true. For goodness' sake, the punter is a 20 year old kid. And he's human. He messed up, and its not like there was no pressure (internal and external).

Hopefully the "death threats" are just sour grapes and not actual legitimate statements.

Damn shame. This does make me feel bad for the punter now. He doesn't deserve this.

Every fan base has 10% of them that are just Grade A Stupid.

As for the decision to punt. It was the right call. Looks like punter was just trying to get it off quick because he knew heat was coming and took his eyes off the ball.

Maybe so, espn does like to drama it up. Having said that, I can really see some idiots doing this. I am talking about the on line wonders that are too chicken :poop: to confront anyone face to face. All a person has to do is scroll down just about any fb timeline to see these types.

Our society today, people build up hatred against other teams for no reason, people send death threats to teenagers who make mistakes in front of 100k people. Yet we act surprised when we watch the news.

That's what I'm saying... I'm sure it's just keyboard tough guys talking trash. Not people who actually want to kill him.

I hear Steve Bartman might be looking for a new roommate.

Heard on radio that he is Australian. He split his liver playing Australian football and recovered.

Has one degree and is getting masters at Michigan.

As someone pointed out, the coaches should have made sure that if anything bad happened to just fall on ball or take a knee. He tried to kick it - as a punter is trained to do.
