I'm guessing such an intelligent person can see the difference between some needed government programs and socialism. The two dirtiest words any politician can claim with me is communist or socialist. Go back and read all my posts and find where I said we shouldn't help those who need help. I just don't think money should be wasted on people who won't help themselves.

I just don't think money should be wasted on people who won't help themselves. Okay,fair enough, but you don't get to determine who those people are. In some parts of the country(including my county), many believe that blacks are people who won't help themselves hence they shouldn't get government help. Who gets to determine just who are willing to help themselves and who won't? You get a lot of different answers depending on who you ask. Has to be left up to the government. Sometimes they do okay and sometimes they don't. They're are flaws in the system , no doubt. What's a better system?
October 21, 201510 yr Let's not forget corporate welfare, whose costs to Uncle Sam exceed social welfare programs about 60-40.
