Todd Schafer, the Brossart Boys and Girls Basketball PA Announcer and singer of the National Anthem has lost his lengthy battle with heart and kidney disease. He passed away Sunday morning (Oct. 4th) at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Edgewood, Ky.. He was 56 years old.

 

Todd served as our PA announcer from 2007 through 2014 when heart issues forced him to the sidelines. He remained very much a part of the fabric of Brossart High School and will be missed by our players, his friends, family and fans.

 

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the Alexandria Funeral Home and services will be conducted Wednesday morning - site and time TBD.

 

A true gentleman, who will be sorely missed.

Not sure I have heard anyone perform the National Anthem as well as Todd could. A remarkable voice.

Visitation has been pushed back until Wednesday evening, with services now on Thursday morning.

Prayers sent, sorry to gear about this for the family and the Brossart community.

I've heard him at games, funerals, and Weddings. A remarkable voice and a great man. Loved those Brossart kids. 2 years ago he gave the graduating seniors on the hoops team a canvas painting of the schools they were going to. It hangs in my son's dorm today.

Internment in Butler, Ky..
