Summer Game Results

Featured Replies

That is somewhat news to me... I knew that there was question to whether he would be back or not but did not know that it was to the point in which he is playing for their summer team...

A friend of mind spoke directly to him and he said that he would be playing for Taft, I guess things changed.

This may compromise how much you believe me, but techinically I never saw him play. I arrived with about 18 minutes left in their first game on Sunday, and he was sitting in a bench seat in uniform about 10 feet behind the bench (I assumed he had been ejected and that he had played). Then I left as he was warming up for his final game of the day. I know it sounds dumb, hopefully someone who actually saw him play can tell us what is going on.

Rice is back and will be playing for Holmes this year as I told everyone before  . Idk why he was sitting behind the bench but he may have just been sitting out a game. I'll speak to someone and get the answer because I was wondering the same when i saw him behind the bench.

And yes the younger players from Holmes looked good as i stated they would earlier in the summer. Holmes will be VERY deep this year with all the veteran seniors (Rice, Edmondson, Jefferson, Hill, Henderson) and plugging in other players such as the younger Avery, Arnold, Clark and Nelson. Could be a long night for other nky teams this year when they face Holmes.

Not very close to the program, but it seems to me that if Rice is back, the coach is sending a very questionable message to the rest of the team and the school. Also, is his eligibility affected by his participation at the Ohio school, or did he not actually play there?

Dayton and Silver Grove played Saturday morning... there were only a few people there watching... Silver Grove is doing a great job getting guys playing. I am not trying to be rude but they brought more guys on their basketball team than I thought they would have 9-12 (seemed like around 30)... they cleared the board after each quarter but I beleive that total the Grovers ended up winning by between 7 to 10 points. I also know that Dayton was missing one player to the state track meet, one to some college football camp, and one to work.

For those wondering, Corey Pelle, while not scoring as much as one might think, still had a solid game. From what I saw it looked like Dayton was doing a good job of forcing the ball out of his hands, but then the dished out some nice dimes to the uncovered man. I would say he probably ended up with about 15 points and 12 assists in about 3 1/2 quarters....

I believe Dayton will be much improved this year, and The Grove will continue with another solid season.:thumb:

PRP Summer Slam

A few notes about the superstars-

Jeremy Anderson of Warren Central had a few rough stretches, but I have seen him light him up. Also, who was WC's point guard, #5? He impressed me.

I had never seen Ty Proffit before, but IMO he dribbled too much. I know that SL had two 6"6's missing, but him and Jordan Hammonds seemed to force up way too many shots.

Holmes had all underclassmen players back from last year, including Rice and Edmonson. And as has fballstud said, the younger players look good.

#5 is Monet Hudson, he is very solid.

Russell 68 East Carter 35

Russell 69 Rowan County 61

Russell 70 West Carter 45

Russell plays Mason County tomorrow at 3pm in a good test for them

Russell is missing Gill, Sizemore, and Frazier

Some new faces that played well today were Michael Maberry, Seth Harvey,

and Austin Robinson. Austin Blair had his shot back and Ross Turner was outrunning the other teams big man on most plays

Overall good day for Russell:thumb:

Has anyone seen GRC this summer I would think they would be in the same area as Mason. I'm curious as to how they look, especailly Knowles and if they have gotten any bigger because they need size.

I expect Holmes and CovCath to be very close this year, with the rest of the teams pretty far behind. CCH beat Doss without Todd or Bovard, while Holmes only lost by single digits to Doss without Duran, Henderson, or Rice for most of the game.

BTW why was Duran not playing? Injury?

Holy Cross looked pretty good last night against Simon Kenton at SK. I think HC beat SK by 30+.

The only starter missing from SK was Josh Hurd.

Holy Cross will be either the 3rd or 4th best team, but the district is too tough....Also I think that Holmes and CCH get an advantage from going and playing teams like South Laurel, Doss, and Madison Central. Not a knock on SK but the level of competition is higher in Louisville and Lexington.

What about Hester , is he playing yet for SK ?

Yes, he just started playing this week.

I believe Dixie and Brossart played Mon. Does anybody have any information on this game?

Is Austin Robinson playing for Russell? Last year I believe he was playing for a Huntington team. Best of luck to this young man. I know he loves his basketball.
