When will one of these consolidated schools finally name their team the Miners?

 

Mingo Central, WV got the jump on everyone in EKY

 

I still say they embrace what they have naturally if they need a nickname

 

What has seperated South Floyd and Allen Central is one was on Left Beaver Creek, the other was on Right Beaver Creek

 

I say they keep bits of each teams mascot and incorporate the tie that bonds

I had actually thought Beavers would be a neat nickname because of their location on those creeks, but I could see why that might not fly!

A running joke is the "680 Elks". If you come this way for a night game watch out, there are some huge ones on RT 680.

Beavers have been fighting in Floyd Co. for years. :thumb:

From the meeting minutes following the 03-25-15 BOE meeting:

School Mascot and Colors (Item 5-C)

 

Ms. Robinson made the motion and Dr. Varia seconded the motion to receive/approve the Floyd Central High School student committee recommendations on school mascot as the Jaguars and the colors being teal, gold, black and white.

 

There was an affirmative vote by all board members present to approve the motion. The motion carried.

The Floyd County Times reported that Floyd Central will be competing in 3A district 6, and that the midcourse adjustment to the districts allowed for Moore High School to move to 4A district 3, and South Warren to move to 5A district 2 beginning next season.

 

I've not seen any word on whether or not the head coach position for Floyd Central is open. I'm assuming since the new school consolidates two schools with existing football programs, then those head coaches would have first shot at the new job. Jeremy Hall was head coach at Allen Central in 2016 and Chad Hall was head coach at South Floyd in 2016. Does anyone know if the coaches are related to one another?
