Shhhhhhhhhhh people think LC is going to get blown out in both......

LexCath matches up very well with Cooper.

Cooper isn't exactly Alabama up front on either side of the ball and the Jags' strength plays right into the hands of Catholic.

I personally expect LC vs. Cooper to be very close and a Knight's win would not surprise me whatsoever. Cooper really struggled with the athleticism of Bryan Station. Though LexCath isn't as athletic as the Defenders...they should create some matchup problems.

I also look at the Cooper/NewCath game (a.k.a Cooper's best win considering Highlands' struggles) and that score was a bit misleading. NewCath was without the Smith kid and simply could get nothing going on offense and Cooper wore them out with field position and Special Teams.

I may be wrong but I am going to call my shot...

If LexCath defeats Cooper and then Boyle County in a couple of weeks then they should be #1 .

Belfry shouldn't fall below #2 regardless of what happens in their next couple of games.

Beating Cooper and Boyle Co are good wins, but, I'd take Central's wins over St X and CAL as better wins.. I also think Central's loss to Manual is better than LCs loss to Ryle.. Just saying if what they've done to this point hasn't already put them ahead of Central, not sure those 2 wins would. I could see them beating both and still not moving up any, because Belfry could have 2 quality out of state wins over the next 2 weeks and a close win over Boyle may not hurt Boyle that much, as long as they just have the one close loss. Still a good resume for the Rebels and doubt they'd move below 2-3..

Care to give us some justification as to why?

I can probably see the argument for moving ahead of Corbin, but give me some argument for moving past Russell.

Bell Co. is better than Corbin at this point and should jump them. Also, I believe they would beat Russell if the two played. Bell Co.'s offense is improving due to their passing game being utilized more, which is opening up the running game. Defensively, they are strong against the run, not so strong in stopping a good passing attack. Russell does not appear to have much of a passing game, so I'm guessing they would have trouble consistently moving the ball against Bell.

Knoxville Catholic is a really good team with some individually excellent pieces...but the only win Belfry could get of the two that would warrant leapfrogging Boyle will be if they can take down Cabell Midland. CM is the #1 overall team in WV and I would compare them to beating a Simon Kenton in Kentucky.

Knoxville Catholic is more like taking the better parts of CovCath and LexCath and putting them together. More athletic than CovCath at the skill spots, but bigger and more talented on the line than LexCath. Their Defense is comparable to either team.

Valid points. I guess I am looking at it from a week to week basis. From where they all are today if LexCath can defeat Cooper and Boyle County it could give them the momentum to pass Central based on Central's next stiff test being PRP in the last week of the regular season. I do agree that Central's wins over CAL and St. X are impressive. I don't know if that is more impressive than defeating Cooper and Boyle County. I guess that would depend on who people think is better.

LexCath beats Cooper

After watching Cooper's best games and some of their lesser games, I can say that I'm very concerned about this Friday. I can only hope that we play up to our ability

IMO, Garrard Co should be ahead of Bell Co.. At 4-1, with their only loss being a 1 point loss, 31-30, to a ranked and undefeated 4a Shelby Co team, should have merited them more consideration, imo..

Z - Z -Z -Z ... the Lions aren't the only sleepers! Don't waken any of these pollster "experts"! Z -Z - Z _Z:idunno:

Russell, Corbin, & Bell Co. all have lopsided early season losses to recover from. As far as I'm concerned, they're interchangeable at #'s 8-10.

I'm OK with Russell laying low for a while. They need to get some kids back healthy and work on offensive consistency. They've got several weeks to iron out some kinks before Raceland comes calling.

I think Lex Cath is being severely over looked. At times they have not played great but other times they have played very very well. If Boyle doesn't play their A game they will lose. Central Hardin is a very good football team and it was close. Bell is not the same Bell of 5 or 6 years ago and Danville is much improved but not great. Anderson and Collins are both in down years. Boyle's run game is still suspect and I know they are winning big but they can improve a lot still. They had better keep working. Should they win out? Yes Will they? Depends on how hard they keep working.

I think you can possibly lump LexCath in with the top 3, but I don't see any of the others challenging for the 3A title.

You better not count out Central.

I was saying that I would possibly include LexCath with Boyle, Belfry, & Central.

I don't think working hard will be an issue as long as Chuck is there. The Rebels seems to be playing good football. I finally got to see Josiah in person and he is as advertised.

I'm interested in seeing how Caldwell County does this Friday. A convincing win over PT puts them in the conversation.
