I'd say there's some truth to that. He is friends with Deshone Kizer so I guarantee you that caught his attention.

I really want to see Barker under center but if he was better than Towles the would be playing already period. PT starting tells me a lot more than saying it was a close battle and Patrick won. Drew was a big time recruit and I feel if he was better he would already be under center to get him the experience he needs and it's always better to have a multi year starter than a 1 and out QB. The way this is going if PT stays after this year Drew may be looking at battling the incoming QB's to get on the field his junior year.

I think people forget that Towles was a big time recruit, as well.

 

If you look at top tier programs, many Qbs do not start until they are Juniors.

Towels actually helped win vs South Carolina this season unlike last year where they won running the Wildcat with Kemp and Dupree with the pic 6 to seal it. He missed way to many balls in week one but looked better week two. With that said I would still like to see how Barker can perform with the first team vs a sec first team D

I wanted Barker to start at the beginning of the season. Just felt like he had more upside.

 

Now that Pat has won the job. It's his job and he has performed more than well enough to keep it. If fact the leash needs to get real long. He needs to know that he can make a mistake and still keep his job.

 

IMO it's not good to be playing and looking over your shoulder.
