Yeah but every year especially around this time they talk up Boyle County as a team and a staff only to get beat by LexCath. I never understood it.

 

In 2008,2009,2010 Boyle swept the Knights 6-0.

 

In 2011, 2012, 2014 LC swept Boyle 6-0.

 

In 2013 Boyle beat the Knights in their only meeting.

 

So it isn't every year.

I was talking in the last 5 years regardless of head coaches Boyle County has won 1 out of the last 7 games aginst LexCath.

Lex Cath is a great program and Boyle Co. is a great program. During the 5 in a row that Chuck is somewhat famous for there were a couple of very good games against LexCath and might have been the tightest games in those undefeated years. I think Boyle won by 2 points two year in a row and they were awesome games in which LexCath could have easily won and went on to a state title. After that we had LexCath's number for 2 or 3 years and now LexCath kinda has Boyle's number. I personally think LexCath has been shorted this season as far as respect. Like you said they have a big advantage the last 7 or 8 meetings. People ask me every week if Boyle is better than Belfry and I answer with "I don't know but we gotta get past LexCath first" I am not kissing up to LexCath. I happen to think we are the better team this year but we gotta show it first. I am pretty sure they have won the same district they have shared with Boyle for the last 4 years so to me they are the team to beat UNTIL we beat them.

Actually Boyle won the District in 2013.

About the actual thread discussion. It also depends a lot on where you start your career. It is easy to drop a level. It is very hard to climb a level or two. It also depends a lot on timing as mentioned already but just as important is who you align with or who you move with. Pick the right coach and he takes you with him if he shoots up the ladder.

Here's what I mean Guru. Last season with a combination of a great early schedule, our own injuries and putting in a new system you bashed the LexCath Knights when they started out 1-3. The rankings were always heavily favored for the Boyle County team who beat on teams with no heartbeats. There was negative remarks about how soft our team was and that the defense stunk. Then in the same breath you would praise Boyle County and how tough they were up front and that their defense was stingy. Then in the first game to LexCath it was LC dominating in the rushing department. Then in the next game it's more another 200 yards on the ground. You are talking over 400 yards rushing on Chuck Smith and company. No comments on being soft. No comments on them being whipped up front, instead it's extremely one sided. Now if we are going to say give Smith time and be patient why can't you say the same about a loss by LC and Perry? We always face a tougher schedule so you can't debate that they will typically have a better regular season record the LC, but you have to honestly post more neutral comments man. I don't mind posting but I love to support the post with some facts and honesty. The people of BGP, deserve that Sir.....

Here's the point when Boyle was the better team they got the publicity they deserved before and after their victory. The point I'm trying to make is they get the credit even when they have been owned by Knights. I'm talking about those seniors and last year's seniors that he coached they have that record against the Knights. When LexCath goes into that game they'll have more losses and be the underdog by posters and then when they win there will be excuses and talks of payback.

Don't get me wrong first off. But bob Beatty. Trinitys coach. I think I spelled right. But anyway. He's a great coach. But when u are workin with diamonds. It's hard to loose every kid there can play NAIA at the least

Cleveland Browns head coach was a high school coach not long ago. Rembered watching a documentary on him coaching against his dad for the first time. It can happen with some luck. I Had the pleasure of talking to Lou Holts one time and he told me that the higher you get up in football the less coaching you see. America best coaches are at the high school level. I kind of believe some of that with the ball being in the wrong hand with RB's and false stepping by receivers but their so good it doesn't matter.

I brought this up in the Giants-Cowboys thread from the other night, and was laughed at by some (which I welcome).

 

Mike Pettine (HC of the Browns) was one that I brought up. It was North Penn HS in PA. It was MTV's more or less first take as a precursor to ''Two-A-Days'' that they did on Hoover a few years later. That series focused on Pettine and his father, who was the legendary coach at Central Buck's West. The two schools were rivals and the series built up to their game if memory serves me correct.

 

College speaking there is Art Briles (Baylor), Chad Morris (SMU) to go along with Malzahn are all former high school football coaches.

 

As I said the other night, if Tony Franklin and all of his great success in the collegiate level can go 1-10 in his last year as a high school football coach, if Mike DuBose (former SEC Champion Alabama HC) can go O'fer in a season as a high school football coach post-Bama, then there are numerous other high school football coaches out there across the country who could go onto be HFC's in the major college and NFL ranks.

Anyone that passed on Chuck Smith is a fool.
