I will say from my point of view Boyle does play a more physical style offensively and defensively than Catholic and always has. I too will give Chuck Smith the benefit of the doubt the longer he is there the more a place will take on the image of the coaches personality. Now its year 2 of the Perry era and Catholic is even softer. The caveat is you always have to be careful balancing the good and bad things in football and considering just how much is coaching and how much is personnel and you shouldn't go overboard thinking its too much of either one.

Give us the links with the specifics. Nothing has been removed from the forum. And I think at least in part you have me confused with someone else on here.

Here is where I hope to clear up the confusion...... you are now posting that them going 0-2 last year aginst LexCath that we need to give Chuck Smith time. He has gotten the same amount of time as far as inheriting a new team and locker room full of players that he has never coached, just like Coach Perry. So we can't say give him a pass on 0-2, and the fact their program has won 1 game out of the last 7. I'm just asking (and trust me it won't matter if you do) just give the same kind of criticism to teams not named LC.

And it is obvious to me, and I am sure most on here, that you can't be objective when it comes to LexCath. My comments about Coach Smith were just that, comments about Coach Smith and in no way an indictment of LexCath. Of course you are taking it as me slamming LexCath and making allegations without the proof that would be right here on the forum if true.

First of all I am not the one you need to talk to about searching for previous post alright.... 2nd all I know is that the 2 quotes that stuck to my head, which is last season when you said that last season's LC was the worst you have ever seen and this season so far, you mentioned after the Cov Cath game that both teams were not very good... Is that right so far @theguru??? I mean to be honest with you, I didn't think an Administrator or a moderator are allow to make such a negative comments on a team(s) or coaches.

That comment (or something like it) from last year sounds familiar but keep in mind I have seen a lot of very good LexCath teams. And I stand by that comment, I was not impressed with LexCath last year.

 

And without the starting QB (because that is when I gave that assessment - and Knight agreed with me) LexCath is not very good.

But I guess their passing D is very good then, considering only giving up 200 yrds to a D1 Ryle QB, Zero to JC, 150 yrds to CovCath and who knows what Boone Co did. Might have been negative passing. Just saying and just lighting up the post.LOL

I've said that before, and even have used it to describe myself on occasion. However, the reality is, it is a long road to put yourself into a position to even be a big time college coach, and there's a certain amount of luck involved. A couple years as a grad assistant, then a few more as a low paid position coach, all the while hoping you've hooked up with the right head coach/mentor that can either take you along with him as he rises up the ladder, or can pull the right strings to get you a decent job to help you rise up the ladder. I did two years as a grad assistant coach, working 40+ hours a week for the program, while working a part time job to actually make some money, and after struggling to pay bills, decided to get a real job. I think there a many guys out there like me, or just focused on a career outside of coaching first.

Great answer and insight. There is a ton of luck involved, and the willingness to avoid putting down anything that resembles roots for a long, long time. A very good friend of mine who I played college ball with, who shall remain nameless, is a very talented coach who hitched his wagon to the wrong horse.....finally had to let go of the dream after 15 years and about 6 moves. Tough gig, not everyone is getting paid Saban and Meyer money.

I'm confused @theguru you said that it was out of line what they said. Then you said hey it wasn't that bad and you quoted them on that mild comment. Then you called them idiots. A very interesting hour of you responding to a commentator that said something about a LC player in blue disliking the Boyle County football team. Explain why even bring up them talking trash when in my opinion that's not trash talking at all. If I wear Kentucky blue I don't like Louisville red. That's not trash talking

I would say none. Above high school, the most important skill a coach has is talent evaluation, not X's and O's. The HS game does not develop that skill set IMO.
