September 16, 201511 yr Yes, my third IM and by far the most challenging. Madison, WI is no joke. BRUTAL hilly bike course and the run wasn't easy either. Came in about 12 hours and 21 minutes and the wife just under 16 hours. I feel as if I justified my tattoo with that one. Still sore and my head is hazy, but back at it today.
September 16, 201511 yr BTW, the city of Madison, WI is very cool. I love state capitols to begin with, but immersed within it all is a vibrant university. The marathon portion people are getting after it at the bars cheering you on so that gives you a lift, plus you make a lap around the Camp Randall football field that was sweet!
September 17, 201511 yr I nearly pulled out during the bike portion. On two segments of the bike course (one going up a monster hill surrounded by trees, the other passing by a corn field), a clown was hidden on the side of the road at each location away from the crowds. He didn't say anything, didn't move, wasn't holding a sign or anything. Just stood there staring at all the bikers as you passed. So creepy.
