I assume that this is the Bowman kid. I know that he has been working hard on the craft. Does he punt as well? Also wondering if he plays anywhere on the field or if he is just concentrating on kicking.

I attended the game. Both defenses played well but highlands had three big plays. It was 7 to 0 at half. 2nd half they scored a TD on a bubble pass they fumbled and then the highlands player scooped it up on the run and got to the outside and scored. Then the third one was a long pass where there receiver went up and made a nice catch over the safety. The last one came with 4 minutes left when both teams started subbing some guys in.

 

Highlands defense played very well and didn't let cooper get anything going offensively.

I'm not pounding my chest on nothing. I know 8th grade Union Jags was a good team last year and I was shocked they lost tonight.

8th grade Union Jags was a very solid team did all thoughs kids quit football?

 

Actually, there were quite a few of the key players from that team that quit. Take into account that they didn't necessarily play the same competition that the freshman team plays. But, Highlands freshman team is very good this year, and the baby Jags shot themselves in the foot last night on numerous occasions offensively which COULD have potentially made the game a little closer.

The young Jags looked good. The Birds were very strong on the D side. Lots of false start flags on both teams kept both offenses from getting into a rhythm. Both teams will end up with very good records this season.

When does the highlands stop accepting kids from outside the district?

To be fair, they were the champs in 2008 when they went undefeated. That was also the class that as seniors went to the state finals.

 

They beat Highlands? I don't remember that.
