Some who do work send the money back to Mexico for their families. So the money they do make dont get spent here anyway.

I have no problem sending some money back, except that it doesnt help our economy since they dont support the local stores. Which just so happen to be relying on money to keep jobs and employee people.

Again, most Americans don't do a good job of supporting local stores, which is why they are disappearing at an alarming rate, and have been for some time now. And even if immigrants send money back home, by working and being productive, they do still contribute to the local economy. We can blame immigrants all we want, but the folks that were born bear just as much responsibility, if not more, for many of the ills that plague our society.

The only way to stop fraud and abuse is either to stop giving the benefit or make work, no matter what type, a requirement to receive it. Now we just have to find the right politician's to enforce it. Godd luck!

True, true. I guess though, at least part of the rub is that you don't have to worry about the "Native Born Americans" sending their money back across the border. They're at least fully invested in the local economy where they live.

 

This right here , is one of the main economic factors rarely discussed.

 

Illegal immigrants come here to earn money to send back home in a lot cases. So if over 50% of them are on government assistance that means we are subsidizing another countries citizens in some fashion on foreign soil.

 

To Rockmom's points on charity. I'd dare you to point out one person on here against charities helping those in need .

My stance on this whole issue has nothing do with hate, race or bigotry. Like 90% of my opinions it comes down to economics. The current immigration system is a drain on our economy.

 

We need to stop illegal immigration , punish employers who hire illegals . All options are on the table.

 

But the illegal immigration economic drain is the biggest threat to our economy.

The economic impact to this country is why every American should care. Taking money out of our economy and placing it in Mexicos.
