August 25, 201511 yr This leads to the pending question where can you hit a QB when you tackle them. You cant hit below the waist, it gets a flag. You cant hit them in the shoulder pads, it gets a flag. So where can you tackle a QB? Apparently you can't. I'm thinking if they go to two hand touch only for QB's they will still argue that it was more of a shove than a two hand touch. Especially if a QB had already had rug burns on his knees from being knocked down on artificial turf.
August 25, 201511 yr Can't hit them in the shoulder pads? That's the first I've heard of that... Every time a defender hits a QB in the Shoulder pads area, he gets flagged for blow to the head, even if he never touches the head.
August 25, 201511 yr You all are acting like the rules protecting QB's are new... Well, seeing how the NFL has come out and said it shouldn't have been a penalty makes me think even more that I was right in not overreacting to the hit as some on here have. That about sums it up.
August 25, 201511 yr The bottom line is that he hit the quarterback low when it was completely unnecessary and probably avoidable (going low was absolutely avoidable). To me Bradford's previous injuries are irrelevant. If you hit a QB late in the NFL, expect to get flagged. If you go low on ANYONE, especially when it isn't necessary, it will be considered dirty. The rules say it was a legal hit. It isn't dirty or a flag to go low unless the QB drops back to pass. Aren't defenders taught to tackle runners by the legs? Wrap up the legs? Plus, if you go high you risk a flag for helmet to helmet contact or leading with the helmet which is also a flag. Damien Woody said it wasn't a dirty hit. What are other non-Eagle football players saying? Video also shows Suggs let up. If he really wanted to he could have ended Bradford's career and it still would have been a legal hit.

That about sums it up. Yeah, I'd feel better about the NFL agreeing with me, seeing as their track record is impeccable. :lol2:

August 25, 201511 yr Watch this video and tell me how many times you see him go at somebody's legs... What does that have to do with his hit on Bradford?
August 25, 201511 yr He tackled the QB on a read option play. I see nothing dirty about this at all. This should end the discussion: NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino told Preseason HQ on Monday morning that Suggs' hit on Bradford was a legal play and should not have resulted in a flag.
August 26, 201511 yr Anybody bother to tune in to SportsCenter tonight and listen Michael Bennett's take on this? I would reccomend you all listen to it. I'm struggling to find the link.

August 26, 201511 yr Just saw this for the first time and my take is it was dirty as heck. He led with the helmet and targeted the knees. It's Suggs vs. Bradford ( Suggs isn't tackling Andre the Giant and has to tackle low ), he could have easily dropped a shoulder pad above the waist and wrapped. No, he chose to target the knee region. No ? in my mind about his intent... So yes I concur, in this case, he's just dirty!!!
