Dave Chappell, I love his show. I don't know if he knows football but i bet the kids will be laughing their tails off.

Real mature. ha ha.

He is a good guy with a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge of the game. Best of luck to Coach Chap and his program.

I just don't see this as the "fit" S. Laurel needed. I don't see the logic in hiring a coach that went 1-9 last year and got progressively worse in each of the 3 seasons he was at Perry Central. Would they have hired a basketball coach that had gone 2-20 the previous year? I think not.

He likes to throw the ball all over the field.

My kind of guy!! :ylsuper:

Luckily for SL you weren't making the decision. There are many ways to measure the abilities of a coach. Certainly won-loss record is an important one, but not the only one. If Coach Irwin had been judged on his first season's record alone, would that tell the whole story? When Chappell had talent they won. When he didn't, they struggled. That is not unique in coaching. He also had very little help on his staff and basically had to do it all himself. Anyone with any sense knows how hard it is to win at PCC consistently.

All of this is moot anyway. Good Luck to Coach Chappell and the Cards this season.

While I don't agree with the decision, Slugo is right, it was not our decision to make.

Coach Chappell is a young and very energetic coach. He did not have the number of assistants that I expect SL to allow him to have. I will support him 100% as the new coach of the Cardinals.

Good luck coach! Now get to work ;) , .... those young Cards have been eager to find their new leader and I am sure are glad the search is finally over! :thumb:

I've heard almost as many conspiracy theories regarding this hire as I have about JFK's assaination, but, as another poster said, it's a moot point now.

Good Luck to Coach Chappell, and his SL team. I'm sure the young men are excited to have a new coach in place. With Chappell supposedly being pass-happy, is there any word on who the SL QB will be next season?

Congrats to the new coach. I am sure with the offense he will run it will not be too tough on the players to adjust from what they had been running.

Also I bet he does not bolt after 4 months on the job.....

Good luck to the Cards.....

We will see how it works.

I doubt his passing game will be anything near what coach Irwin was running. There's a difference between passing the ball and being a passing offense. There's one thing for sure though, there will be a big change at South Laurel in the next few year's.

Is this the coach chappel who was an assistant at Madison Central?
