Ferguson Missouri one year later

Featured Replies

You could argue living in Ferguson is in harms way.

Absolutely you could. That's not the fault of the protestors. They share in no part of the blame for that.

If my brother robs a bank and I know it was him that did it and I say nothing I would be complicit in the crime.

It's not blame it's reality.

You keep asking how we don't know? The biggest complaint from LE is the lack of help they get from the community.

The same LE who has been proven to treating those who are protesting unfairly, right? There's no trust there, and it's not without merit.

I agree it has to start somewhere. But blaming the protestors isn't that place.

You keep saying they know the violent rioters. Ferguson has over 21K people. Do some of them probably know these people? Yes. Everyone doesn't know everyone like you're making it out to be though.

Absolutely you could. That's not the fault of the protestors. They share in no part of the blame for that.

You don't understand that without the community working with police the violence can't end because the police can't do their jobs?

In the past year the people's voice was heard and they changed leadership. While the gun shots started last night the Police Chief for the county was holding a press conference about giving the protestors room and vent their frustration and then shots ring out.

Moving forward is a two way street. Obviously things need to change on the LE side to build trust. But there also needs to be a direct call out of the people causing violence and a solution between all parties.

Time for protests have past it is time for action.

It's going to take a hell of a lot more than a new chief and a change in leadership to rebuild the trust. The issue is they don't trust that going to the police will accomplish anything.

I don't know if this popular opinion or not.

But it's obvious a lot of protesters aren't part of the violence. But I think it's silly to say the violent people aren't protesters when they are standing with the protesters.

It's basically the same argument with Muslims and radical Islam. If you don't speak out against the violence or point out who the violent people are you are part of the problem.

The people committing acts of violence live in these communities and the peaceful protesters know who these violent people are. If you don't want the violence to put your protest in a bad light then work with police and tell them who the trouble makers are otherwise you are part of the problem.

This is rich. Talk about a false dichotomy.

State of Emergency has been issued.

You said the peaceful protesters know who the violent people are. The violent people know who they are too. I'm not risking my well-being for no reason.

I'm not willing to put myself at risk for any reason except my family's safety. Where have I complained about others not caring?

IMVHO if you go to one of these "protests" knowing that there's a good chance it will turn violent you've already put your neck on the block.

During the "peaceful" part of the protest there was a pig roasted, dressed in police garb and marked Darren Wilson. It's head was torn off and delivered to the police station.

Trust is a two way street.

The FACT that Darren Wilson was completely cleared in 3 different investigations seems to not matter.

Watched the whole thing unfold on Periscope last night. First hand live view all the way up to the sound of shots fired. 1hr or so of unbelievable footage. There is no easy answer.

What was the periscope users name that was doing it. Want to watch.

Missouri Police Union Deemed Sunday "Darren Wilson Day"

Seriously, what genius thought that was a good idea?

I think the facts have shown Darren Wilson did nothing wrong. Regardless of those facts, he was tried in the media, threatened, forced to move and lost his job. Based on what I've read, he's also had trouble getting a job anywhere else. I think it's OK if the Union shows him some support.

Is this really your response ?

LB and I very rarely agree, and this is one of those times.

If they are not going to ether attempt to stop them or point them out to the police then they will get no sympathy from me if they start tear gassing or whatever the entire crowd. It's either help stop the idiots or don't be around when the PD starts to take control.

I don't disagree the Union should show him support, however....

You don't see it as poor form to do that on the 1-year anniversary of the shooting? Come on.

This is rich. Talk about a false dichotomy.

How so ?
