Don't sleep on the Red Devils.

 

A handful of us Purple fans a few years ago got upset when the class alignments changed. Many in our camp truly believed that those Purples teams were the ones that could have dethroned Highlands. I know the haters will speak up against.

 

With that said, yes, Pulaski can hang this year with Highland and Purples. I still think Highlands or Purples will beat them by 2+ touchdowns this season (much more than that in upcoming seasons).

 

BG will be good enough to pull out another championship but the stars will have to align pretty good (no injuries, defense gel quickly, QB play well when needed....). If Purples can get past Owensboro, I'm guessing they meet Highlands in finals.

Dragon fire is king of stats but very few teams score 40 points against Purples. I just can't see the score of most Highlands games being what they normally are against the Purples.

 

This year it will be a crapshoot. The next 4 years will be classic games between these 2 respected teams. Highlands would get nod this year but my boys in Purple are 1 season away from having another incredible run

 

No team has in the last decade and only twice since 1987. And Bowling Green won one of those two to boot.

I was talking to some HHS players this past week and they stated they should win a game or two in playoffs but they do not think they will win state. I have not heard that kind of talk in over a decade! Now the rest of the players may not feel this way and it might just be the few I was talking to, but still have not heard that talk in a LONG time.

 

Not doubting your word, are you sure they were players? You don't build the tradition of Highlands football with players talking like that. Are you sure they just weren't pulling your leg?

I'm not a hater of any high school football team or program, but I find your comments interesting. The only team that can claim a "run" against Highlands is the Trinity Shamrocks and they were scrimmages. Highlands is 1 win and 1 loss verses T in the regular season. Just some food for thought.

Owensboro and Warren Central are the only two teams that have kept Bowling Green on their schedule when they weren't in the same district or Class. They're not afraid of anybody. Positive they are players, however they are young and maybe have not had enough of the blue koolaide yet. I am sure you will not find any Sr/Jr players talking like that.

There is zero doubt that the path to WKU is going to run through BG. Literally, lol. And I wouldn't count out an explosive Christian County team with a emerging super star sophmore QB Kolbi Langhi. I totally respect all teams, because anyone can be had on a given night. Good luck to all. Except Highlands.
