August 1, 201511 yr Yes, one piece yes, the next no. Sometimes with pineapple it makes it really smooth. Or I love stuffing my mouth with blueberries and adding a little blueberry yogurt. And I normally use different flavors with vanilla being my favorite. In short, one 100 calorie yogurt goes a long way with fruit. My better half is fond of putting yogurt in the freezer and then eating it like ice cream.
August 1, 201511 yr Author If it has a crunch and is salty, I turn into an unconscious freak and then pay for it big time in the middle of the night with severe heartburn. No matter how many times this happens it's funny that while I'm snacking the inevitable never occurs to me. At the grocery store I convince myself that it's better value to buy the economy size of whatever snack I'm going to get, and also tell myself that I will make it last. Last 'til when? Till I fall asleep from a coma after having killed the entire contents no matter how many ounces. I'm not finished until the container is completely empty. Even if I stop myself half way through a box or a bag and say, "see... I can control myself, can't I?", ...then 20 minutes later I'm back at it because I swear that I can hear the snack calling me from the kitchen pleading me to finish the job. Snacks are the devil. I agree willpower is so so tough. Do you struggle with weight?
August 1, 201511 yr There's a new flavor of Captain Crunch...caramel popcorn flavored. I had a couple of bowls last night. Delicious.
August 1, 201511 yr Author Fruit is so expensive, I don't wanna think about your grocery bill Guru :lol2: Cheaper than eating out Brother.

August 1, 201511 yr Not a midnight snack but I've been cutting way back on my Lay's chips consumption and have gone to edamame. Pretty nice alternative.

August 1, 201511 yr I agree willpower is so so tough. Do you struggle with weight? I used to big time. I was always a pudgy kid, graduating from high school at 215, maxing out at 245 when I was 21, and roller coastering throughout adult hood (190-220), finding out at 40 that I was diabetic (not a surprise), got serious and got my act together spending most of the last 10 years between 175-185, and now am sitting at 165 and 5'9" just about, and finally where someone of my height should be. Luckily I really don't roller coaster anymore, and I make sure to stay active or walk to keep my muscles from withering away, and to stay comfortably where I presently am weight wise. It's no longer the mental strain that it was when I was so far from my goals and wondering if I'd ever get there. Getting there was a relief and staying there seems fairly easy by following simple basic maintenance measures. I really thought that I would enter mid-life with serious weight issue and a big gut, but thankfully that's not the case. My heart thanks me, my pancreas thanks me, my back and my knees thank me. Up until 40 I was a binge snacker and barely understood how disastrous excessive carb intake was. Seeing a dietician was a huge help in helping me learn the balance that they body requires. When it comes to my main meals I pretty much have it together, and I can't even begin to gobble down as much food as I once did, or imagine how I ever did. My whole mindset has changed, and where I once used to think that one sandwich when ordering would never be enough, the thought of eating two now turns my stomach. My caloric intake is probably half of what it used to be. My only real problem still is later at night when I'm not truly very hungry, or am just sorta hungry, that old nagging desire to crunch crunch crunch comes back as if it never has completely gone away from my pre-40 poor eating habits. I have a handle on it most of the time where I simply just do not allow myself to partake, but every once in a while the floodgates will open and I'll binge out like there's no tomorrow, and if it's not snacky crunchy stuff, it'll be an overdose of Ice Cream. None of those things are at all a good idea for a diabetic even if it's only once in a while, but that flashback bad behavior has never completely left me, but thankfully it's become an exception to the rule and not an everyday problem.
August 1, 201511 yr I love natural peanut butter and almost can't eat the regular stuff anymore. Agreed. Kroger Natural PB is so readily available at a reasonable price, that the decision is real easy between it or stuff with added sugars and hydrogenated oils. Crunchy of course is my favorite.
