July 30, 201511 yr Do I think the league/Commish is coming down way too hard on Brady and the Patriots, absolutely. Do I think Brady and the Patriots cheated, absolutely. This has been my stance from the time the accusations were originally made. There is absolutely no way on earth Brady didn't at least know what was going on. Every QB talked to said the same thing. Not a single person has ever came up with a reasonable explanation that would explain why an equipment guy would go rogue and do this all on his own without any input from the QB.
July 30, 201511 yr No they don't and as told in this case the phone company could not get the actual texts, what they could supply however was the phone numbers texts were sent to and calls were made to. No actual texts could be recovered. I am long in the tooth but that has generally been my understanding of the whole text message thing. Additionally, I am told even when there are text messages available most judges will not sign a warrant for them but that is more anecdotal than anything on my part.

Agree HB, which makes this an NFL issue way more than a Brady/Patriot issue. The NFL needs to bite the bullet and tell the American public they dropped the ball on enforcement of this issue and in fact this very thing has gone on in the NFL for numerous years. So.... we are going to fine the Patriots, put a better process in place, and move on.

While it for sure looks like they might have liked their balls at or below the limit allowed by the league, why weren't the balls psi below where the ideal gas laws said they would be? That's what I can't get past. Brady had their ball boy let the ref know they were allowed to be 12.5 and almost every scientist not paid by the league said the balls were where they should be if they were 12.5 when tested indoors prior to the game.

Just noise to me... Scandals don't always reduce profits. Lots of time they increase profits due to all the media attention. The concern is maintaining the integrity of the League....or at least what little it has according to some....for the long term.

I'm reasonably sure that someone from the Patriots tampered with the balls, but I see not an ounce of reliable evidence to suspend Brady for 25% of the season.

My stance is still this is a NFL issue more than a Tom Brady/Patriot issue. Lots of players have done it, the NFL knows it, and they haven't taken a stance until now and they singled out Brady/the Patriots. I can't stand Goodell and the corrupt NFL. But I will keep watching!

They singled out Brady and the Pats because a team called them out on it. Just like baseball allowed people like Mcgwire, Sosa and every other steroid person to do their thing in the homerun chase to get fans back. It wasn't until people started calling out baseball on steroid use that made them decide to crack down on it.

Calling this cheating is like calling going over the speed limit cheating because traffic enforcement chooses not to enforce it. Obviously, Brady likes his balls at the lower end of the inflation range, and it is very possible that exposure to environmental conditions, as well as use, could cause the balls to deflate to ranges outside of regulation. The scientific community has spoken on this issue in their public rejection of the Wells report. I look forward to this case being heard in Federal Court. Both the arbitrators ruling and the process are deeply flawed and will be exposed.
